I checked the Social Security Index and found my grandfather name.
Right below it was another Romie Carr. He was born in 1886 and died in
1979 in Chino, San Bernardino, Ca.
My grandfather was born in Arkansas in 1890 and died 1975. Since these
were the only Romie Carr's listed. I thought I would see if he belong
to someone on the list and see if we were related.

Why don't you think that Susan Carr and John Wesley Carmack are Elizabeth's
parents? Seems a good bet to me, especially since you say that Elizabeth's
mother's maiden name was Susan Carr. The connections are compelling.
No, I don't have the children's info. Is it published in Edson Carr's book?
I've not gotten everything into my database yet.

Hi Pat!
As you may know, Henry Carr was married to my GG Grandfather's daughter,
Elizabeth Carmack and had three children by her. Elizabeth's mother's
maiden name was Susan Carr, coincidentally, I'm sure. I don't have
anything on Henry's family, but then I've never really tried to find
anything there either. Elizabeth married again after Henry's death, which
I think was 1861, she married a Thomas Fry(Frye). It's interesting that
Henry was born in Illinois, as that is where John Wesley immigrated from
and some of his children were born there, including Elizabeth. I'm
thinking perhaps Henry may have been with their traveling party, since John
Wesley first settled in Fannin County, TX, and that is where Henry and
Elizabeth were married in 1852.
I wish I could provide more for you Pat, but you might have to search out
Henry's birth certificate to see who his parents were...unless you
can find some of his great grandchildren still around Stephenville, TX.
You do have the info on his children, right?
I have looked around a little for parents and line of Susan to no
avail...you have anything on her for me??

brother Tommy Brooks. Both are siblings of my wife whose name is Bevery A.

I have not been in the monkey hunting business very long, but some of the
family have. I must confess I need some help if you have the time and
information I would appreciate it. I finally run across you Home page last
night and I have never seen it before.
What I am in search of is the Parents of Robert Jefferson Carr who was
born in New Jersey on Decmeber 14, 1799 as far as our history goes. He was
married to Susan "Sukie" Roberts in 1827 in Pickens Alabama. They were in
the process of moving to Texas about the time or slightly before the Texas
Refolution. I have his father listed as Stutley Carr, but I dont that is
right and the rest of the family surely dont think that is right, so just
leave that move up to mi stupidity. I would definitely like to have the
names of his parents if you know them or have some way of obtaining them. I
am at my wits end and I did not have to go very far to get there. I am
attaching a file that has his discendants on it.

I am helping my good friend Corretta in her search. We are stumped with Cora
Melissa Carr. We know from Coretta's Grandmother (who knew her personally )
the following. b.1870, d. 1944. She married at 13 years of age in 1883 to
William Brasuell in Sebastian County Arkansas they had 11 Children whom we
have information on.
Cora Melissa's story is that when her mother died, her father took her and 2
siblings (who we think were born in Ohio) across country, leaving them with
prominent people who would educate them in exchange for domestic service.
Cora was left with Judge Parker around 1882 in Fort Smith Ark. When she
became pregnant (by the Judge) Parker's wife kicked her out.
13 years old, alone and destitute on the streets she met William Brasuell who
had came to town searching for a bride. William married Cora knowing she was
already with child. They had 10 more children.
I've seen your postings through out the Carr genealogy area and hoped that
you may have Cora or a lead somewhere in your notes. Any hint of a lead is

Joseph Carr, brother of Samuel and John, could be identical with the Joseph
who married Mary Moore on 16 Nov 1763 in Colonial NJ Records.
Joseph could also be identical with the Joseph reported by Edson Carr in his
"Carr Family Records" (1894) as son of Caleb of Manahawkin, NJ.
Edson Carr based much of his work on Leah Blackman's book "History of Little
Egg Harbor", which has numerous errors re Carr in Burlington Co and vicinity.
Joseph is supposedly a great-uncle way back in my line, but the records are
sparse and nothing has been proven to date.
For those of you with Arthur Carr's book, my line supposedly traces through
Caleb #1291 on pg 37 [his son Joseph #12912 is the one I mentioned above]; my
line continues through Caleb's son James #12911 with wife Phoebe on pg 57,
and their son James #129111 born 12 Jul 1760 in Mt Holly, NJ on pg 93.
My research can only verify my line back as early as James #129111, who died
in Wayne Co PA in 1811. I've not been able to confirm his dob, but a marriage
to Esther Unknown with lots of kids is confirmed.
I'm convinced that Caleb and son James are the result of a late night of
genealogy work (or a bad acid trip) by Edson Carr. . . :)

A Kingdon researcher sent this biography of Joseph Carr b 25 Oct 1790. FYI.
Pat
1883 History of Burlington County, New Jersey, page 94-95:
HON. JOSEPH CARR. The Carr family was early represented in America by
three brothers - John, Joseph, and Samuel - who emigrated from Scotland and
located as follows: John purchased a tract of land in Pennsylvania, Joseph
settled in New York State, on the rocky point of land still known as "Carr's
Rock", while Samuel came to Monmouth County, N. J., and is great grandfather
of the subject of this biographical sketch. His son Samuel married Abigail
Chamberlain, and had sons - David, Joseph, John, and Solomon - and daughters
- Rebecca, Mary, and Eliza. Joseph, of this number, was born in Monmouth
County, Oct. 25, 1790, and married Ruth N. Thomas, formerly a resident of the
suburbs of Newcastle, Wales, whose birth occurred Oct. 20, 1790, and who
became a resident of the United States in 1799. She was the daughter of
Richard and Martha Ann Thomas, the former of whom was born in 1751. {Fran's
note: I can't be sure of that date, it didn't copy well.}
Joseph and Ruth Carr became residents of Mount Holly, N. J., in the spring
of 1817, when he at once engaged in the shoe business, which was conducted
without interruption until his death, on the 24th of August, 1870, in his
eightieth year. His wife survived him, and died March 26th, 1879, in her 89th
year. Their children are Samuel, Naomi T. (Mrs. Jabez Kingdon), Joseph,
Martha Ann (deceased), Mary F. (deceased), Elizabeth T., and David W. Joseph
was born Jan. 11, 1821, in Mount Holly, which has been the scene of his
active business career. His advantages of education were limited, and
confined to a period prior to his tenth year. At the age of thirteen he was
apprenticed to Nathan Palmer, who, in 1818, established the "New Jersey
Mirror". In this office Mr. Carr acquired the art of printing, and formed
habits of application which contributed greatly to his subsequent success. He
continued in the employ of Mr. Palmer until the latter's death, in 1842, upon
which he assumed entire charge of the paper, which he conducted with marked
ability and success until 1857, when he was admitted to an equal
copartnership. From 1842 until 1872 he superintended the issue of every
number with but two exceptions, and this personal supervision, together with
the general excellence of its editorial columns, won for it a high rank
throughout the State. Through the paper and upon the rostrum Mr. Carr
contributed not a little to the victories achieved by the Whig and Republican
parties in New Jersey.
Having retired from the newspaper field in 1872, Mr. Carr was appointed
during the same year judge of the Court of Common Pleas and Orphans' Court of
Burlington, which position he held for a term of five years. Though actively
engaged in politics during his whole life he has never been an aspirant for
official honors, and has ever declined such distinctions. During the campaign
of 1876 the party selected him as the representative of the Second
Congressional District of New Jersey on the electoral ticket for Hayes and
Wheeler. He has been for many years a director of the Farmers' National Bank
of Mount Holly, one of the oldest financial institutions in the State. Mr.
Carr's advice and friendly offices are frequently sought in the settlement of
estates, and as a custodian of important trusts.
One of Mount Holly's prominent citizens left on his death the sum of ten
thousand dollars, the income of which was to be distributed among the
deserving poor of the city. Mr. Carr upon the urgent solicitation of the
citizens was appointed by the chancellor of the State guardian of the trust,
and now fills with fidelity and discretion the duties of the position. Mr.
Carr was married on the 10th of June, 1875, to Emily, second daughter of John
Palmer, of New York, and granddaughter of Nathan Palmer with whom he served
his apprenticeship.

Wanted Man Who Faked Death Captured
.c The Associated Press
LIVE OAK, Fla. (AP) - A man who allegedly faked his death in a 1994 diving
accident while awaiting trial on child molestation charges has been captured
in Arizona.
Police found 43-year-old Arwyn Carr living in a trailer park in Flagstaff,
Ariz., on July 1. He had taken the name of a man he knew in Live Oak and
obtained a phony Social Security number and driver's license.
``This is one of the most unusual cases I've worked,'' said Bill Gootee, the
Florida Department of Law Enforcement agent who tracked Carr for five years.
``Most of them just run. They pack up their car and drive off. But to fake
your own death and go to those extremes, that's quite elaborate.''
Police said Carr will be returned to Florida within a week to face trial on
the child-sex charges and for failing to appear in court.
Carr disappeared in the Gulf of Mexico. His mother reported him missing after
his boat was found two miles offshore. A body was never found.
At the time, Carr was two months away from a trial. A conviction could have
brought a life sentence.
Gootee said it was hard to believe that an experienced swimmer and diver like
Carr would go out alone and then drown months before his trial. He left
behind his family and forfeited his $25,000 bond and all of his possessions,
including a dive shop.
The break in the case came recently when Carr's mother visited him in
Flagstaff and made some cellular phone calls that were traced, investigators
said.

Hi, Pat.
I visited your Carr Database 6/99 in search of Kingdons. New to me was
the name Joseph Carr Kingdon, probably a son of Naomi T. Carr & Jabez
Kingdon, but unknown to me before this. (They had at least four other
children.) Also I didn't have Naomi's death date previously. Here are a
few corrections/additions.
>From your database, page 142 of 381:
Naomi T. Carr, birth abt. 1818, NJ; death Feb 20, 1913; spouse
John Kingdon, m. date bef. 1850.
>From your database, page 273 of 381:
John Kingdon, b. date abt. 1820, spouse Naomi T. Carr, m. bef. 1850.
My corrections, additions:
Naomi T. Carr, listed as 31 in census of 1850, so probably b. 1819, NJ.
She married Jabez Kingdon (not John) 23 Nov. 1837, Mt. Holly, NJ.
Jabez Kingdon was born 1808 or 1810, (He gave his age as "twenty-four
years and upwards" on his Declaration of Intention to become a citizen in
1834.) His birth location was Tywardreath parish, Cornwall, Eng. He died
Nov. 1875.
(Jabez was the brother of two of my great-grandfathers, Samuel Drew Kingdon
and James Kingdon. All three immigrated from Cornwall to Mt. Holly, NJ, and
all three married there. Jabez and Samuel came in 1832, James came two
years later.)
I wonder if Jabez in later life changed his name to John, or was nicknamed
John, or did someone just misread J... and assume John?
My data comes from census, naturalization papers, an old 1834 biography
of Jabez' uncle Samuel Drew (authored by S.D.'s son), and an 1883 history
of Burlington County, NJ, as well as family information. Most of the info
I had on the Carr family came from the Burlington history.
By the way, although I didn't find much of help to me in your database,
I want to compliment you on it. It is much more informative and easier
to navigate than many I've browsed.

Thanks for the kind words about my web page, as well as the additional info.
Here is some additional info from my records.

My notes from Joseph Carr page:
1830 NJ Census
Burlington Co
Mt Holly pg 108
1 M less than 5 [Joseph Jr?]
1 M 5-10 [Unknown] [abt 1825]
1 M 10-15 [Unknown] [abt 1820]
1 M 15-20 [Unknown] [abt 1815]
1 M 20-30 [Solomon? Joseph's brother?]
1 M 30-40 [Joseph]
1 F less than 5 [Elizabeth]
2 F 5-10 [Mary Frances, Naomi?]
1 F 10-15 [Unknown]
1 F 20-30 [Unknown]
1 F 30-40 [Ruth]
1850 NJ Census
Burlington Co
Mt Holly pg 418
Joseph Carr 59 M NJ Shoemaker
Ruth 59 F Wales
Mary Frances 24 F NJ
Elizabeth 22 F NJ
Martha Kingdon 6 F NJ
Joseph is probably grandfather of Joseph Carr Kingdon, who died April 1,
1850, son of John & Naomi(?) Kingdon, buried at Mt Holly Cemetery.
Joseph Carr could be related to Solomon Carr b. abt 1804, also a shoemaker
and listed on same page of 1850 census.
Joseph Carr, Jr, appears on next page of 1850 census, age 20, a painter born
in NJ, living in household of Jerusha Palmer, 81 M Connecticutt?
Joseph Carr could be a descendant of Joseph Carr (12912) in Arthur Carr's
book?
My Notes from Naomi T Carr page:
This tie to Joseph Carr has yet to be proven, although her child seems to be
named for his grandfather. The census shows Joseph with a Kingdon living
under his roof in 1850, so there is obviously a connection.
I have Jabez Kingdon as an aka for John Kingdon. The exact dod for Naomi
comes from her gravestone in Mt Holly Cemetery.
I also have this note about a fellow Kingdon researcher:

I have a Nancy L. Carr b. 1840 in Ill. that married David L. Redwine in 1849
also in Fannon County, Texas. Do you think we might have Brother and Sister
here?
I show Nancy's parents and Benjamin Carr and Mary Vandike. This is not
verified. I got it from someone else.
Benjamin was listed on the Cocke County, Tenn 1850 census as living along. he
was 55 yrs old. and listed as born in Tenn.
Thanks,
LaNelda

I am searching for the parents and siblings of Henry Carr born 1837 in
Illinois. He married Elizabeth Carmack in 1852 in Fannin County, Texas. He
is listed in the 1860 census in Erath County, Texas. Does anyone have
information on this family?
FL
I indeed have a William Carr whose father's name
is John. However, this John was (according to two
censuses in Illinois) born in North Carolina. He
married a Mary Brown who was born in VA so
I don't think these are the same folks.
