Hello Everybody,
I have seen in our family info references to a Christian Carr from
Pennsylvania. I was wondering if anybody in Carr Country out there
knows anything about this Christian Kerr (Carr) who appears in
Montgomery County in 1790, in Lancaster in 1800, and in Dauphin County
by 1810. Just wanting to know so I can eliminate him as potential
father of my Archibald Carr whose lineage is ever so elusive.

Yes, that is my William Carr. Rebecca was his first wife, I think most of
those children were by other wives. Thanks for the DAR number, I didn't have
that.

The dob for Alice is a rough guess only. I use an approximate dob to
facilitate research in my Carr Database. The 1902 date is, however, eight
years AFTER the date of death my source had for Alice's father.
I have no direct connection to this Carr line. But I am copying this note
to a fellow researcher who provided the original information. I recommend the
two of you get in touch and sort things out. Keep me in mind when you put the
pieces together. Enclosed at bottom is a copy of my database records on
this family, based entirely on research by wagnerja(a)worldnet.att.net.

I'll be adding the information to my Rootsweb database if and when I receive
the materials. Thought you'd like to know about the data's availability. I'll
try to find out if this person is researching the same lines you are. At this
point it isn't clear. Some people simply send me Carr data they come across
while looking for other stuff.

This is so tantalizing! My William Noflet Carr was b. 1832/33 in
Kentucky, but his father (Unknown) was born in NC around the
turn of the century. I've found a couple of families which have
moved back and forth between NC and VA, and Wm. Noflet's
father married a gal from VA.
Could you supply a bit more info on these folks?

Glad you liked my web page. You must have seen my AOL site, which is
attached to my Rootsweb database! :) I was just having a little fun.
I found a Dora Ella Allen m John Henry Karr (he was b 1878 d 1933
Celeste, TX Greenville Co), and an Ellen Allen (b 1842 NC d 1874 Orwood, MS)
m James Harvey Karr. I'd be interested in the Karr data you have.
There are a number of Karr researchers digging around in Rootsweb's Carr
List. One posted a considerable amount of Karr data to the List, which you
can find at my Rootsweb site under the "surnames" KARR_Hans1, KARR_Hans2,
KARR_Hans3 and KARR_Hans4.

Dear Pat:
Just surfing around for family lineages and I came upon your site via
Rootsweb. YOU have a sense of humour!!
I have Karrs in my family line, but they may not be yours. I have two
half-g,g,g, aunts that are ALLEN sisters that both married KARR relations in
Hopkins, Co. Tx. (this county is next to Franklin and Titus counties)
If you think this may make a connection, send me an email and I'll see what
I can dig out of my mom's files. She's been researching for forty years!!
Happy Holidays!

Hello,
I have been looking for some time now, information that might lead to the
parents of Thomas CARR b. abt 1780-1783 in Virginia. Thomas shows up in the
1830 Overton Co., TN census..
There was a John CARR in Overton Co., TN in the 1820 census. John was
married to Frances "Fanny" SELLS. John probably died sometime between 1820
and 1830. It is likely that Thomas and John were related as the
granddaughter of John CARR ( Minirva PRITCHETT ) was living with the Thomas
CARR family in the 1850 census.
Does anyone have anything on either Thomas or John CARR's parents or other
siblings?
Thanks

FYI to both of you...
"Karch" in Czech or Slovak would be spelled "Karc" with an accent mark over the "c" (shaped like a little "v")...keep that in mind when looking for the name in Czech or Slovak documents.
Pat, where is the Czech language name site you quoted from? This appears to be an electronic form of the standard Czech name book that is used in naming children (even today!). I'd be interested in looking at that - left my paper copy in Prague...

Keyport, NJ, based on switchboard.com. There are more Karch's nationwide. I
looked for Karh on altavista.com search engine in Czech and didn't find any
names, but Karch included a professor named Miroslav Karch. I'd go with that
one. I found a site with renderings of Andrew in various languages, also at a
Czech language site, and found he was likely an Andrej. So I'm going to run
with Andrej Karch as his aka. I dug through my atlases and references and
found he would have been born in Kaschau, Kingdom of Hungary. (see details
below) Let me know what else you have to go on. If I get any inquiries on my
Rootsweb site, I'll forward them to you.
Pat

Hi Pat,
I saw your home page on rootsweb.com. My name is Valerie Carr. I have
been doing research on my husbands family and haven't been able to go too far
back. I was wondering if you came across any info in your search that may
relate to my husbands family. My husbands grandfathers name was Francis
Joseph Carr, born Oct. 10 1891 in Trenton, New Jersey. Francis' fathers name
was Andrew Francis Carr (Karh or Karch) born in 1862 in Kosice
Czechoslovakia, he died in 1949 in Trenton, New Jersey. I know this is
probably a long shot but I thought I'd give it a try. If you have any info
that you could share I'd appreciate the help, if not thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
Valerie Carr
