You're right, it doesn''t work. Looks like you have to search out my database
yourself using the Rootsweb World Connect Project search engine. Use the hot
link below, then search CARR_Books in the surname field. My database is the
only one that has that surname (wonder why?).
http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/
Or you can try this direct link. But it is the result of a search, like the
last time, and it might not work. I tested it last time and it worked, but I
couldn't recreate it the next day. Maybe this one will work. It is slightly
different.

Anyway, give it a try. Good luck.

Pat,
My husband's G-grandfather Benjamin Franklin Popejoy was an Uncle to William
Walter Popejoy who married Nora Carr. I am seeking information on the
Popejoys. I would appreciate any info that you might have. If there is any
info that you need on the Popejoy's, and any updating that I can help you
with, I would be more than willing to do. Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks for your time and help.

Elesha --
This is all I have on Walter and Nora. (see below) I have a William Rufus
Carr b Mississippi in 1861 who moved to Fort Worth, TX and raised a family in
Hill Co, including a birth in Itasca in 1896. Maybe Nora is a cousin or
sister and her roots are also from MS?? If you sort it out, kindly give me an
update.

"Thomas B. CARR
Captain Thomas Brown CARR, eldest son of Greene and Martha T. Carr, was
born at Newport, R.I., May 1, 1821. His ancestors on both sides were among
the early settlers of that colony, and one of them, Caleb Carr, who died in
1695, was a governor thereof. Thomas was educated in the public schools.
At the age of nineteen he joined the Newport Artillery, and performed duty
in its ranks during the Dorr War in 1842. He was on its active list a full
score of years, holding the position of colonel from 1854 to 1859. He
learned the blacksmith's trade of his brother-in-law, and followed it most
of his life. During the latter part of 1861 and the commencement of 1862,
he was thus employed by Major Hunt of the United States Engineers at Fort
Taylor, Key West, Fla. Returning from the field he served the Naval Academy
at Neport for some years, and, subsequently, worked at his trade at Fort
Adams. Prior to 1884 he was a member of the Newport police for a
considerable period. He died March 18, 1897, from cancer at the foot of the
tounge. He did not suffer much if at all during the twenty months the
disease was known to exist, and death came painlessly. Operative
interference was not attempted on account of his age. He left a son,
Clarence A Carr, D.M.D., who is engaged in the practice of his profession in
Newport. A daughter of mature years, Alice Ward, and an infant son, Perry,
preceeded him to the spirit world. Their mother was Anna Elizabeth, only
daughter of Perry and Harriet Ward Sherman, who was married to their father
April 30, 1849. She passed from earth March 19, 1888. Captain Carr was
made a Mason by St. John's Lodge, No. 1, of his native city, Feb. 2, 1863,
and a Knight Templar by Washington Commandery in 1870. He united with
Slocum Post, No. 10, Grand Army of the Republic, March 12, 1890."

Hello,
I have just subscribed to this list in the hope of obtaining info on the
ancestry of Sally Aubin who married Nathaniel Talbot in Newburyport in
1798. I could find no record of Sally's birth in the Essex county VR's.
Two of the children of this couple were given "Carr" as middle names,
which suggests a connection to the Carr family. Indeed, there is a
Nathaniel Aubin/Betty (Elizabeth) Carr pair who were having children in
Newbury and Newburyport at the time of Sally's birth (c. 1777). Nathaniel
Aubon/Aubin and Betty Carr were married in Salisbury 21 Dec 1760
(Salisbury VR). This Betty/Elizabeth Carr may have the ancestry (quickly
gleaned from the VR's):
Betty Carr dau. of Nathaniel and Hannah (Collins) Carr, b. Salisbury 18
Aug 1738.
Nathaniel Carr, son of William and Ruth (Brown) Carr, b. Salisbury 24 May
1714.
William Carr, son of William and Elizabeth (Pike) Carr, b. Salisbury 04 Mar
1678/9.
William Carr, son of George and Elizabeth (Oliver? acc. Hoyt), b. Salisbury
15 Mar 1648.
George Carr the immigrant.
So, the question is, does anyone have info on the Betty/Elizabeth Carr
above that could establish whether she is the mother of Sally Aubin?
Thanks for any help.

Thank You! Thank you for the list of Carr politicians in the Political
Graveyard! On it I found Nathan Carr, brother of my Maria Carr, and his
biography told where he was born. I have been searching for years to
find their birthplace and more information on their parents Henry Carr
and Elizabeth Tracy, but have been stumped. Now perhaps I can go
forward on my lines.
