Hello Everyone,
Well, I just found out that the Carr Family Reunion is to be in
Harrodsburg, Mercer County, KY on the 2nd Sunday in August. It will be
in Young's Park on Linden Avenue next to Hagan Memorial Hospital. The
mayor said folks start arriving about 10 or 11 a.m. It is pot luck so
bring whatever you like. It is open to all Carr descendents. It's off
US 127.

Hi Helen
I have been looking for information on Henry Carr, my father. I thought
I knew everything but then all of a sudden it is all changed so any
information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Alice Carr Krum.
When I quit this mortal shore
and mosey 'round this earth no more,
Don't weep, don't sigh,
don't greive, don't sob
I may have struck a better job
Don't go and buy a large bouquet,
for which you will find it hard to pay
Don't hang 'round me looking blue
I may be better of than you
Don't tell the folfs I was a saint
or anything you know I ain't
If you have stuff like that to spread
Please send it out before I am dead
If you have roses, bless your soul
Just pin one on my button hole
But do it when I am at my best
Instead of when I am safe at rest.

Hello Pat:
I am descended from the Hilburns of Newberry, South Carolina. Many of the
early Hilburns were Quakers and my ancestors lived in the vicinity of the
Newberry MM.
One of my relatives, the family of Reason Hilburn, moved out of SC during the
big Quaker exodus from the south - to Newberry, Indiana. This family named one
of the sons "Jabez Carr Hilburn," born in 1830 in Indiana. He was a doctor,
and served as a surgeon with an Indiana unit during the civil war.
It has always been a mystery to us why this person was named "Jabez Carr"
Hilburn. I noticed a "Jabez Carr" in your records and I wondered if you could
shed any light on this mystery.
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.
Robert Edwards >>
Jabez Carr was a descendant of George Carr of Salisbury, MA. That line has
many Quakers. My source of this name was Edson Carr's Carr Family Records.
Jabez and siblings, born in the 1740's era, are shown with no further
information in that reference.
I'll post your inquiry in the Carr List and see if anyone has further details
about Jabez Carr.

Hello, I found your site and was thrilled to find the CARR family I was
seeking on the net...I'd promised my cousin before he died to help search
his dad's line...the CARR's. However, I am sending some updated info which
will probably indicate you have a missing generation somewhere. As I did
not have the parentage of James Carr I will just give you what I have.
James Carr b. abt 1872 (was told Michigan) d. abt 1934 in Kansas
+Florence Chloe Boyer b. 9 jan 1888 Mich. d. Martinez CA Marr. abt 1905
1. Bertie Alfred Carr b. 7 oct 1906 near Niles, KS d. 24 Oct 1975
Ontario.OR (but lived in Payette, ID. He marr. Cordelia Alice Trent b. 14
jan 1917 Minneapolis, Ks on 16 Nov 1933..she is still living
2. Elva Carr b. abt 1908 KS She marr. John Ratterman
3. Vergie Carr (Virginia Mabel) b. abt 1909 KS she marr. Russell
Brown
4. Vesta Carr b. 25 Jan 1918 Bradyville Iowa She marr. D.L."Rusty"
Thompson in Minden, NV (Vesta is still living)
I am trying to interview Vesta to get abit more info she knows but she
didn't know the Carr grandparents names. She did remember that her father
did have siblings named Frank, Fred, Nelly (who marr. a Charlie?) and a
"Dolly" Carr. Don't know who that really was. So your about dates for this
family are off by one generation...and I wish I knew how to solve it...if
you can please do and let me know the outcome...thanks, carolyn stewart
(note Cordelia Trent Carr is my Father's sister)
gstewart(a)CTAZ.com >>
I have the following notes in my Family Treemaker file indicating that the
data printout of Carr information I used for this family [FROM DAVID W CARR,
MORRIS, NY] were lacking dates of birth and were difficult to put together. I
think I roughed out the dates for several generations, putting in many "about"
dobs to give the tree some structure. Someone will have to figure out the
links. Your information goes a long way to fixing the record. Glad the web
posting was of use to you. ALWAYS makes me feel good.
I hope all goes well with your research. Genealogy gives you a unique
opportunity to grab a piece of the past and preserve it for the future. And
that makes your living relatives feel good, especially the frailest. And it
helps them to pass on their story, which makes them feel more secure.
Pat
MY NOTES:
David W Carr notes show Vesta Carr marrying Unknown Thompson, then marrying
again on 3 April 1860 to Holmes E Pettengill in Lewiston, ME. Pettengill was
reportedly born 16 Aug 1837.
These dates don't fit into any reasonable scenario I can construct for dates
of birth and marriage in this series, starting back at Caleb and Sarah
(Ransford) Carr. If Caleb is born 1791, his (youngest?) son Caleb is born 20
yrs later, say 1811, then his son James E Carr is born 20 yrs later in 1831,
then Vesta Carr should be born about 1850 at the earliest, if she was the
product of first children of first children all the way back. You would
really have to squeeze the generations to get her married in 1860, but not a
second marriage. (If those generations are sixteen years apart, you could get
an 1831 dob.)

Alfred Joseph Carr was born 6 Jun 1816. He married Narcissus Emeline
Howell, the daughter of Eli Howell and Nancy Love Howell. They had the
following children:
Mary Ann Melissa; Lucy Ann Jane; Theodore Taylor; Georgia Ann Savannah;
Ellender Ann Victoria; William Alfred; Nancy Ann Elizabeth; Eli Pickens;
Emerzia Luther; Marcellus Plumer; Howell Cobb; and James Jent.
The three oldest daughters married three sons of Uriah C Sprayberry, and
a fourth daughter, Ellender Ann Victoria married a relative of the three
Sprayberry brothers.
I have extensive information about these CARR descendants.
Just a few doors down from Uriah C Sprayberry, on page 402, family 435,
household 435 of the 1850 census of Randolph County AL, is found the
family of Isaac Carr age 54 born SC, wife Pemelia 50, William 27, Nancy
15, James 12, Martin 10, and Harrison 8.

The Carr Book, by Arthur Carr, pg 18, talks about the children of John and
Waite as follows:
". . . All six of the maturing children married but three are not known to
have had children are therefor mentioned only here. Ann mar. on Jan. 18,
