Spent time at NGS today and came up with a few tidbits which may be of
interest to someone out there:
1. On pg 5 of "NH Marriage Licenses & Intentions 1709-1961," ltr of
intent for Jonathan Carr of New London, NH and Sarah Marthes of
Plaistow, NH dtd 30 Dec 1857.
2. Pg 131, "VT Families in 1791, Vol I" - "Moses McConnell had several
land transactions in Johnson (NH) to Micajah Dunham and Elisha Boardman
of Morristown in 1800."
More later.

Final rites for Bedford Carr, who died last week at his home in
Menominee, were held Sunday afternoon at the residence, 511 West street,
Menominee. The services were under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge,
members of which attended in a body.
During the services W.H. Ounsworth sang "No Night There" and "Softly and
Gently"
A profusion of beautiful floral offerings filled one car and were in
charge of the Misses Theresa Bauer, Minnie Ellison, Bernice Sleman and Lida
Wright. Those who acted as pall bearers were A.M. Conant, John Jenkins,
H.J. Deters, E. J. Ellenwood, C.W. Gram and Ernest McCue. D. G. Wilson
conducted the services. Burial was made at Riverside.

Does anyone list a Rebecca Kerr born 3-25-1825 in Ohio? She married
a William Morrison about 1839 in Ohio or Wisconsin. He died about
1845 and she remarried a William Broxson. She had two children by
Morrison, Rachel born 10-7-1842 and John J. Morrison about 1840.
Can not seem to find where in Ohio she was born and where they were
married.
THanks,
Pat

My O'Brien relatives emigrated to the US from Tipperary circa the late
1850s. My ggrandmother, Catherine O'Brien, was born in Tipperary, circa
1850. I do not know parents or siblings names, or even how many siblings
there may have been. She married Michael Whalen [Whelan spelling ??],
wedding date unknown. He was at least 10 or so her senior. She supposedly
joked that she was left a young widow because she had "been married to an
old man". They had two daughters, Mary Agnes (my grandmother, b. Beaver
Falls, PA March 21, 1875) and Elizabeth (Lizzy). Micheal died when the
girls were small, and Catherine married Timothy Donovan, a widower with two
daughters (Kathryn [Katie] and
Molly). They subsequently had four children (twins Timothy and Thomas, John
[1885] and Rose [1891].
Mary Agnes married Michael Joseph Carr [wedding date unknown] and bore 10
children (Daniel Edward, Kathryn, Irene, William Joseph [my father], Mary,
John Richard, Eleanor, James, Michael, and Francis. All the children were
born in Pittsburgh (Homestead), PA between 1898 and about 1915. All but
Eleanor and James lived to adulthood. Mary Agnes died with tuberculosis
circa 1915; Michael Joseph died in December 1948.
If any of the above sounds familiar, please contact me. I am just
beginning my search. Any help anyone can provide would be most welcome.
Thanks very much,

I am seeking information regarding Benjamin Carr. All I know is that in
the Rhode Island Vital Records, New Series,Vol 4, pg. 59 it says:

I believe this Suzannah is the same one who married Ichabod Foster June
5, 1768 in West Greenwich, Kent, R.I.
I have Ichabod's diary written between 1785-1806 when he and Suzannah
were living in Rutland, Middletown and, Whiting and Orwell, Vermont, in
which all the male Carr names are mentioned as visiting. No other Carr
names are mentioned.
The children of Ichabod Foster and Suzannah Carr were
James Otis born May 27, 1769,Coventry, RI, died Dec. 22, 1776 in
Rutland, Vermont.
Benjamin Carr born Mar 27, 1771
William born Oct. 4, 1771
Marcy born April 10, 1776
Abigail born April 2,1778
Samuel born July 26, 1780
John Stewart born NOv. 26, 1774
Ichabod born Mar. 8, 1783
Albro born OCt. 16, 1785
All these children were born in Rutland, Vermont.
I have no record of Suzannahs birth or death.
Thanks for any links or connections.

I am the grandson of James Homer Carr and can provide you with
extensive
descendants of James William Carr. Also a copy of James William Carr's
military
record gleaned from the national archives. In either printed or on
computer disc in
GEDCOM, TXT, or Microsoft Word DOC files.
The reason I am interested in Americas and William P Carr's descendants
and forebearers is that their descendants appear as witness's on both
James
William's and his widows pension documents. Which leads me to believe
that they
may be related.
According to the information that I have had to date, James William
Carr's
parents were James H Carr and Sarah Cook out of Ohio. But that family
has been
extensively documented and goes by the name of Karr. And they have no
record of
a James William. They have a William James, but he is not the same
person.
Sincerely
Jim Carr

The above appears to be approximately the same lineage as I have seen in the
Appendix of "A Tentative and Imperfect Record of the Descendants of Thomas
and Mary (Garland) Carr 1685-1966" by Flossie Gibbs Anderson and Paul
Kornmeyer (1968), with one exception.
The authors of that work indicate that Sir Andrew CARR of Cessford [their
spelling] d. 23 Jan 1526; ma. Agnes dau. of Robert 2nd Lord CHRICHTON, and
had a dau. Catherine KER [not shown on your list] who ma. Sir John KER.
These authors then trace the line through the son of Catherine and Sir John,
Sir Thomas KER of Fernieherst, who is apparently the same as the Thomas KER
in your list. The balance of the lineage appears to be the same also:
Son of Sir Thomas KER and 2st wife Janet SCOTT was
Sir James KERR of Crailing, Lord Jedburgh, who was the fa. of
Sir Robert CARR Col. in His Majesty's Service, who was fa. of
Sir Thomas CARR, who ma. Mary GARLAND and had sons Maj. Thomas (who ma. Mary
Dabney), William, John and Robert.
Note: Gibbs and Kornmeyer also show the following lineage down to Sir John
KER who ma. Catherine KER as follows.
Sir Thomas KER, 8th Laird of Kershaugh in Teviotdale ma. Catherine dau of
Sir Robert COLVILL of Ochiltree. Thomas was the fa. of Andrew Kerr
(1471-1545) of Fernieherst who ma. Janet HOME 2nd dau of Patrick HOME of
Polwarth and had Sir John, Lord of Fernieherst who ma. Catherine as shown
above.
BTW, from another source I have that another son of Sir Thomas of
Ferniehurst by his 1st wife, Janet KIRKALDY was Andrew KERR of Ferniehurst.
This Andrew had Sir John of Ferniehurst, who had Sir William KERR who was
the fa. of Benjamin CARR (1592-1634) who ma. Martha HARDINGTON, who were
the progenitors of the New England CARR line.
Although the above seems to tie together my New England and Southern CARR
lines, I reallize there are many "fuzzy" spots in both. I would very much
appreciate any comments or corrections from other subscribers to the CARR-L,
or others to whom I have sent CCs of this message, and in particular any
other sources which might be of help in confirming or refuting these
lineages.
Cheers to all--Dexter

Does anyone have information on Benjamin Carr that was married to Prudence
Beals? All I have is names. They were my GGGGgrandparents. Any help
appreciated. Thanks. Mannesah
I am looking for descendants of Watson Carr, b. 1857 in England
(probably Lincolnshire) and Fannie Hockney. They were probably married
in England, and they emigrated to the U. S. in 1890, settling in
Wisconsin. Their children's names were Lydia (1889), Frederick J.
(1890), George A. (1891), and John W. (1894).
Does anyone have anything for Rachel Embree Carr, as in who her parents might
be, etc.:

Help! Need infor about my John Mathew CARR.
Here's one version-- John Matthew CARR was b. 15 Oct 1869 in Fairfield,
Kanawha Co., WV. He died 18 Feb 1950 in Romeo, Colorado. His mother was
[Ann CARR??] born Jan 1845 at White Oak, Kanawha Co., WV. Ezekiel CARR was
John Mathew's grandfather. He was born 20 Sep 1825. He died 2 Mar 1899.
John Mathew's grandmother was Vianne GRASS.
Supposedly, Vianne GRASS was Cherokee Indian.
Supposedly, Ann CARR was not married at time of John's birth.
Supposedly, John Mathew CARR was 14 when his mother, Ann passed away and he
went to live with his Uncle Bill SCOTT who had a large family. He worked in
a coal mine for several years.
John Mathew CARR married Ora FOSTER on 26 Dec 1895. Her parents were James
McGovney FOSTER and Sarah Jane FARLEY.
Any help will be appreciated.
