grandmother's household on 1870 DeWitt Co,TX census...Cecelia Edgar. I
believe her to be RT's mother because of birthplaces listed on census. Have
yet to search 1860 or 1850 census)
My James Wiley Carr married Margaret Elizabeth Bouldin in 1880 in DeWitt Co,
TX. I have much on their children and descendants but still have a few holes
to fill in. I am their great granddaughter from daughter, Willie Ray. James
and Maggie's other children: Bouldin, Douglas, Boon, Stefina, Martha, Wyche,
Carmen. Only Willie, Martha, and Wyche married and have lines to follow.
Hello, Pat and all;
Ah yes, there is always a disgruntled segment in every group, even
of two. Yes, think about it. If there are just two of you, one always seems
to have a gripe.
Just now getting my feet really wet with mailing lists. Biggest
desire was to be able to spread what I know and share with as many as
possible. Well, over at the TYLER list, I got to sharing with others about
President John TYLER...you guessed it, someone was not happy. I did not stop
it because of the fiber-challenged person, but somehow it did stop and now I
do not learn any more.
CARRs in the news has been one of the most delightful things I have
seen on a mailing list. I always know exactly what it is going to be.
Being fairly new to the INTERNET, I was like a frisky puppy, cutting
& pasting all over the place. Finally, someone ACCUSED me of SPANNING. I
might have even found a thing to post to CARR. Well, tempers got lost and
when I told her that she needed a spanking, she unsubbed me. It was sad
because we stil had much to teach each other. Well, so be it.
Twasn't bad enough, another fiber-challenged person did it to me
again. After several close family members died suddenly this year, I have to
tell you, I went into a small period of grief. I get immense enjoyment out
of these mailing lists. But, I feel like I have a duty to get as much
information out to each list as possible, and after, all, when we took these
lists, we were told that WE SET THE POLICY OF THE LIST. I was also told that
if they did not like what they saw, they could always unsub themselves.
Perhaps these persons are upset because there was not enough room
for their posts. Perhaps they had a bad day. But, if it means anything to
you and there is a vote, I vote you do not stop.
Love from a companion list-owner,
Sandra

I have had one or two complaints over the past year about Carrs in the News
postings. They doubtless represent some segment of the group, but I don't
know how large. I'm inclined to stop the postings, to keep the peace. I
just saw a show on road rage and I'm getting soft on people riding my bumper.
Time to let em pass.

By ALISON SMALE
STARI RASADNIK, Bosnia-Herzegovina (AP) - Back home, Maj. Allen R.
Gifford works at Disneyland. In Bosnia, he's trying something much more
magically elusive: bringing Serbs and Muslims back to a
life together.
In this shattered territory around the fiercely contested northeastern
city of Brcko, reservists like Gifford and regular soldiers have worked a
minor miracle: Muslims have moved back into about 600 ruined homes on
Serb-held land.
Muslim returnees say they feel safe with regular U.S. Army patrols from
nearby Camp McGovern churning through the ruined remnants of their villages.
Gifford and those like him in the U.S. Army's Civil Affairs play a less
visible role, working in all kinds of ways to knit life back together for
Serb and Muslim alike.
They offer legal help, spot and organize new business projects or just
listen to peeved and miserable people.
This is one of the only areas in Bosnia where the NATO-led peace force
has actively helped refugees to return to homes on territory claimed by the
wartime enemy. . . .
Trying to make peace work in small ways is the order of Capt. Jeff
Carr's day. Like Gifford a resident of Anaheim, Calif., Carr works with the
Serbs of Brcko.
Carr, 35, is particularly proud of helping a local Serb firm do good
business with metal scrap hauled from the remains of Brcko's railway bridge.
The bridge was a vital link with neighboring Croatia across the Sava
River and was one of the first bridges the Serbs blew up when they went on
the attack in spring 1992.
U.S. government aid is slowly rebuilding the bridge and the rest of
Bosnia's shattered railway network.
But it wasn't until the American reservist, a businessman in civilian
life, came along that the Serbs did something with the bridge's remains. Now,
a scrap dealer carts it away, beats it into steel panels, makes garbage
containers and sells them to Brcko city authorities.
``It's key to get these people back to work,'' Carr said.
Carr is under no illusions about the impact of the huge American effort
to stitch back together Bosnia's slashed tapestry of ethnic relations.
``We know a lot of times that we can't have a substantial impact
politically, but we can work at a local level to effect change,'' he said. .

hurdles; Craig Dixon, an Olympic bronze medalist in the hurdles who
once won 59 straight races; Maren Seidler, a four-time Olympian in
the shot put, and Dr. Evie Dennis, a long-time contributor to the
sport.
The other candidates were 1964 Olympic 200-meter champion Henry
Carr, three-time Olympic race walker Henry Laskau, former Abilene
Christian coach Oliver Jackson, and the late Lucile Godbold, who
set seven world and six American records, mainly in the shot put.
Voting will be conducted among Hall of Fame members, track and
field officials and athletes, and selected members of the Track and
Field Writers of America.
The three candidates receiving the most votes will be inducted
into the Hall of Fame Dec. 4 in Dallas during USA Track & Field's
annual convention. A fourth inductee will be the candidate
receiving the fourth-highest vote total, provided the top three
vote-getters include both athletes and a coach or a contributor. If
not, the individual in the group not included will be the fourth
inductee - provided that candidate is named on more than 50 percent
of the ballots.
Any candidate appearing on more than 80 percent of the ballots
will be inducted.

I am researching James CARR bapt. 19 June 1791 at Great Bealings Parish,
Suffolk, England, son of John and Hannah CARR. James was a Sergeant in
the Royal Horse Artillery at the Battle of Waterloo. He was married to
Jane AFFLECK, and had a son William, born at Marseilles, France on 23
October 1818. William CARR married Isabella McKerral at Greenock,
Argyleshire, Scotland about 1839 and migrated to Australia in 1853.
Love to hear from anyone with a connection or knowledge. Can perhaps
help anyone with CARRs that emigrated to Victoria, Australia.
Regards
Bronwyn

George Carr was born in 1599, perhaps in London, England. He came to MA
where he settled near Salisbury. He operated a ferry there.
I have a source, "The House of Carr" by W. L. Watson, that indicates George
was the third son of Sir William Carr, 10th Baron of Fennerhurst. I have
limited resources, apparently, and can find no information about extenct
peerages in England from that time period. I have looked at Burke's
Peerages and a source showing contemporary peerages that have become extinct.
Has anyone bothered to research the Barons of Fennerhurst? If Sir William
was the 10th, it would seem the prospects would be good for finding
information going back many generations. Does someone have access to a more
complete supply of peerage books that would be willing to look in to this a
bit? We might find some interesting connections further up the tree.
If someone could look into this, I'd certainly appreciate hearing about what
was found.

I have notes on an Elisha Carr, born in Fayette Co, PA, with children Joseph,
John, Elijah, and Elisha. Joseph married Nancy Drummond in Clark Co, IN on 24
Feb 1818. Source: Carr Family Records, by Edson Carr. More details.
Maybe your line? Looks pretty good.

This is to apologize to those of you who dislike this kind

the mailing list list. Please, if you have any flames, do not
harrass the lists with them, but send them directly to me...
I am truly sorry and the next thing I will do is to
change my mailing list!!!

I regret troubling readers of the list, however, it is necessary for
me to unsubscribe from the CARR-l listserv and although I have tried
to do this in messages to the listserv, none of them have been
effective. The instructions I had archived are for the former server.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
