Here is an offer to extend to any Carr that you think may be related to
you and have been encouraging to do a DNA test or to add an new mt-DNA
or Y-DNA test yourself.
Family Tree DNA, the leading DNA test company has given me permission
to an extend a discount offer that amounts to approximately $100 off
the normal cost of a new 25 or 37 marker Y-DNA test ($30 above the
existing project cost discount of $60 and $70 respectively for a 25 and
37 marker Y-DNA test) or $15 off any new mt-DNA test to any Carr
surname participant, especially new participants. The test must be
ordered and paid for between December 6 and 31, 2005.
The coupon can not be used to upgrade an existing Y-DNA or mt-DNA test,
that is you can not use it to increase your existing number of Y-DNA
markers or to order the HVR2 test. But you can use it to order a new
mt-DNA or new Y-DNA test for yourself or another person. The test must
be ordered and paid for before December 31 to qualify for this offer.
This offer is beyond the two Y-DNA coupons and one mt-DNA coupon per
surname project noted on their site. This is a great opportunity for
anyone who has been putting off doing a new DNA test. Just print out
the coupon at the appropriate link below and enter Carr Surname where
it says Project. If you inform me as well, I will also notify FTDNA.
The discount is applied after the test is paid for.
"The discounts would apply for the DNAPlus test or any combination
test. You can use only one gift certificate for it, though, so I would
recommend using the Y-DNA gift certificate for a DNAPlus test. The
mtDNA certificate applies to any mtDNA test or any test combination
including mtDNA (again, new kits only). If someone wants to receive
the discount and may not belong in your project, you can direct them to
print up their own gift certificates at these sites:"

New members should join through join the Carr project through the
Surname project join window on the gift certificate page to obtain this
discount. A copy of the coupon should be returned with any new DNA
sample kit.
The mtDNA test has proven very useful on my maternal line since I
received new information on that line from a fellow family history
researcher who shares my mt-DNA mutations, even though we do not share
recent ancestors. I would never have had a reason to contact this
person had it not been for the mtDNA link. Contacting those who you
have close DNA matches to is the best use of your DNA results for
genealogy. You won't know what can come from it until you do it.
Linking Carr/Kerr/Carre/Corr/Karr families around the world through
their genetic record,
