There is still time to take advantage of the reduced test costs through
Family Tree DNA or DNA.ancestry.
Order a kit for the relative or suspected relative that you have wanted
to get DNA tested. Check out the FTDNA Carr project webpage to see the
low costs for the various tests available through the end of September,
especially the 37 marker test.
No specifics about limitations to this offer were posted. Please
forward this to anyone you think may be interested in doing a YSTR
(paternal line) or mtDNA (maternal line) test, especially anyone with a
Carr paternal line. If they do not have a Carr (including all phonetic
variations) surname, they can still join through the surname for their
paternal line or through a regional project to obtain the discounted
prices.

Our numbers are growing and the Carr Family DNA picture is becoming
clearer with more people sharing haplotypes or near matches. Now is a
good time to add those you would like to have join us in our
genealogical research.
Latest results show:
12 marker match between Walter Ker who settled in Freehold, New Jersey
in 1689 and a descendant and Apple Valley New York Karrs. Confirming
the long held but unsubstantiated belief that these families are
connected. Many other Karr, Carr and Kerr families also descend from
Walter.
65/67 marker match between two separate Carr paternal lines who
settled Jackson County (now Putnam County) Tennessee in 1700's. These
lines are thought to have first settled in Virginia before later
generations moved west, eventually on to Texas and further west. The
paper link has been lost, but DNA shows the family lore was likely
correct.
Your help is needed:
There are Carr families who would like to test but have tight budgets.
Your Carr paternal line may share ancestry with them, so we need their
YDNA haplotypes in our database. You can help that happen by
contributing to the Project fund at FTDNA:

We also need help maintaining the project website, if you know HTML and
can help, please e-mail me.
