Greetings,
Just want to drop a line to let everyone know that Jim Carr has updated
his Carr Family website, which includes all Carr families. He has
updated the Carr Family DNA Project webpages as well. We have several
new members, welcome to each of you.
We have several new participants to our project who have documented
genealogies from Caleb and Robert Carr of Rhode Island. They are
grouped together and you can see that they share common haplotypes.
Hopefully each of you are still searching for more information on your
Carr family paternal line. This includes trying to identify other male
Carrs who may descend from your line and invite them, or their family's
historian, to add their Carr paternal line DNA to our project. The
next step after having your own DNA haplotype is to find others who
match it and can contribute to your family history knowledge. Then we
can establish Haplogroups for other Carr lineages as we have for
Tennessee and Rhode Island.
FTDNA will be conducting limited SNP tests on every persons DNA (if you
do not already have SNP test results) to verify your Haplogroup. So,
FTDNA participants may see their Haplogroup definition change over the
coming months. This will make you eligible to join the National
Geographic Genographic Project, which I encourage everyone to do, cost
is a nominal $15 to transfer your results. The Genographic project is
research important to all of us seeking information on ancestral
connections. FTDNA participants can join through their FTDNA personal
page. If you tested with another DNA company, you have to order a 12
marker test through FTDNA to join, $99 to join the Genographic project
directly.
An announcement from FTDNA for non FTDNA participants. Now through the
end of March FTDNA is offering 'at their cost' prices to project
members who tested with their major competitors and would like to join
the Carr project at FTDNA. You will need to contact me for specific
details.
Keep me updated on your family history research and any connections you
make through the project. Sharing any information you find on Carr
families, even if not related to your family, is appreciated. I am
still establishing my worldwide Carr family historical database. All
help is appreciated.
You can also use this list to post messages for the whole group.
Please write anytime,
John Carr
