Greetings,
I've let a lot of month's go by since I have sent out an update on this
project. The project has grown to more than 60 participants with
haplotypes of more than 60 Carr families. These haplotypes are
primarily from participants, but have also been obtained from a number
of other sources. We anticipate that more DNA haplotypes will become
available from new project members and public DNA databases,
potentially several from the British Isles, that promise to make their
data available soon. The project has shown a high probability of
common heritage between Carr families who trace their ancestry to
common ancestor of the early settlers of Tennessee. Other members
share common haplotypes as well, but the link to a common ancestor has
not been determined yet. I encourage you to encourage those you think
may share your YDNA haplotype to join as well in order to make the best
use of your DNA for genealogy.
Many new genealogy records have become available recently. If you have
added more generations or information to your Carr paternal family tree
as a result, please update me so we can update the family history
portion of the database.
Please be sure to keep this list and your DNA company site on the list
for notification of updates to e-mail addresses. A few participants
e-mail addresses no longer work. Please do not let that happen to you.
It is a good idea to let another family member know how to get in
touch with this project on your behalf, should there be a need to do
so.
I will send out a few more short e-mails on specific topics rather than
just a very long e-mail. If you have any questions on your results or
need any assistance with a DNA test company, please let me know.
Feel free to post questions or interesting information about DNA or
Carr genealogy that you have found on this mail list as well. Specific
genealogy questions should be sent to the genealogy lists.
Write anytime.
John Carr
