Floyd Monroe Carper, 99, of Uniontown, Ohio, formerly of Left Hand, W.Va.,
went to his eternal rest Dec. 19, 2004, by his faith in our Savior Jesus Christ.
He passed away in Uniontown.
He was born Jan. 17, 1904, in Spencer, W.Va., a son of the late Walter V. and
Luella Carpenter Carper. He retired from Goodyear Aerospace in Akron with 21
years of service. Floyd resided with his son and daughter-in-law, Smith and
Martha Carper in Uniontown.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Ocie;
second wife, Mildred; and third wife, Laura Catherine.
Floyd is survived by two sons, Smith (Martha) Carper of Uniontown and Ronald
(Sandra) Carper of Looneyville; four daughters, Betty (Bob) Newman of Akron,
Eunice Keyser of New Concord, Ohio, Phyllis (Jim) Norris of Baltimore, Ohio,
and Peggy (Tony) Caro of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Judy Kathleen Park of
Elizabeth, W.Va.; 26 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 15
great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral
Home, Spencer, W.Va., with the Rev. J. Herbert Smith officiating. Burial will
be in the J. Herbert Smith Cemetery, Looneyville.
Visiting hours are scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Calvary Baptist
Church, 820 White Pond Drive, Akron, OH 44320.

Ethel Lilly Dye, 105, of Jacksonville, N.C., formerly of Campbells Creek,
W.Va., died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at Britthaven of Onslow, Jacksonville, N.C.
She was born March 15, 1899, in Roane County, W.Va., to the late Walter and
Louella Carpenter Carper. She formerly attended the Big Bottom Missionary
Baptist Church and was a member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by a son, Roger Dye of Charleston; daughters, Helen Miller of
Redding, Pa., Kay Smith of St. Albans, Gloria Gerino of Chester, Va., Kim
Facemyer of Sarasota, Fla., and Arnetta McCallister of Jacksonville, N.C.;
sister, Judy Parks of Elizabeth, W.Va.; and brother, Floyd Carper of Akron, Ohio; 13
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oral Wayne Dye.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at Stevens & Grass
Funeral Home, Malden with the Rev. Fred Christian officiating. Burial will
follow at the Cline Hollow Cemetery, Campbells Creek.
There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service
on Thursday at the funeral home.
Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, 4203 Salines Drive, Malden, WV 25306, is in
charge of the arrangements.

AMMA - Oral Ray Carper, 83, of Amma died Jan. 13, 2003, in CAMC Memorial
Hospital, Charleston.
He was born Feb. 14, 1919, at Kester, Roane County, a son of the late Riley
Monroe and Mary Janet Gandee Carper. He was also preceded in death by his wife,
Helen Irene Price Carper; two sons, Billy Ray and Charles Michael Carper;
three grandchildren, Shelly Kensinger, Bobby Carper Jr. and Sheila Carper; two
brothers, Ralph and Bradford; and four sisters, Forrest, Glada, Hestel and Mary
Rose.
Survivors include four daughters, Karen Lemmon of Canton, Ohio, Sharon Abbott
of Tariff, Angie Abbott of Amma, April Payne of Clendenin; one son, Bobby
Carper of Orlando, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at John H. Taylor Funeral Home,
Spencer, with Pastor Michael F. "Mike" King officiating. Burial will be in Amma
Cemetery.

Kirby K. Carper, 71, of Spencer died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, in CAMC General
Hospital, Charleston.
He was the retired owner and operator of Carper's Wrecker Service with 25
years of service. He also attended the Good Hope Baptist Church, Reedy.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Carper of Spencer; son, Jerry Carper of
Spencer; daughter, Stephanie Tolley of Spencer; stepsons, Michael Price of
Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Edward Price of Spencer; stepdaughters, Becky Carpenter of
Spencer and Patty Schoolcraft of Gandeeville; sisters, Tiny Purcell of
Pennsylvania, Betty Winland of Lancaster, Ohio, and Patsy Satterfield of Cairo; four
grandchildren, one great-grandchild, six stepgrandchildren and four
stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl K. and Trudice Schoolcraft
Carper; and one granddaughter.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the John H.
Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor John Price and Rev. Hillard Bryant
officiating. Burial will be in the Looney Cemetery, Walton.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Stratton “Hawkshaw” Carper, 87, of Amma passed on to be with his wife,
Saturday, September 10, 2005, in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
He was born March 30, 1918, at Amma, and was a son of the late Roy M. and
Bertha G. Nida Carper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
his wife, Faye Reynolds Carper; one daughter, Nancy Likaits; one son, Roy Kent
Carper; two grandchildren, Sharon and Kenny Pauley; one brother, Ross Carper;
and one sister, Olive Phelps.
Stratton was a retired welder with 35 years of service for Union Carbide
Corporation. He was also a skilled carpenter and an avid gardener.
He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors, who for many
years acknowledged his presence and watchful eye while sitting in his front
yard as they passed by.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron “Jake” and Gladys
Carper of Left Hand and Roger and Brenda Carper of Amma; two daughters and
sons-in-law, Rhonda and Alan McClain and Donna and Gerry Mitchell, all of Amma; one
sister, Artie Welch of Spencer; 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 14 at the
John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Michael F. “Mike” King and
the Rev. Harley Cline officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery,
Clover.

Georgia Faye Carper, our angel, 87, of Amma, W.Va., went home to be with the
Lord on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at CAMC General Hospital, after a short
illness.
Faye was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother,
great-grandmother, and a special person to all who were blessed to have known her. She had
a
heart of gold, and was a “Granny” to everyone. Without her, life will never
be the same.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Roy Stratton Carper; two
daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Alan McClain, and Donna and Gerry Mitchell, all
of Amma; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron “Jake” and Gladys Carper of Left
Hand, W.Va., and Roger and Brenda Carper of Amma, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren; 27
great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, especially Carol Fisher of
Spencer, W.Va., whom she thought of as her daughter.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, R.P. and Sarah Florence Godby
Reynolds; a daughter, Nancy Likiats; a son, Roy Kent Carper; brothers, R.P.
Reynolds, Jr. and Opie Reynolds; sisters, Goldie Harris, Agusta Nida, Ruby
McGlothlin, Mint Cottrell, Opal Robinson, Locie and Macie “Tobe” Reynolds; and two
grandchildren, Kenny and Sharon Pauley.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3 in the John H.
Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, W.Va., with the Rev. Harley Cline and the Rev.
Richard Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover, W.Va.
Friends may call at funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005.
