Kirby K. Carper, 71, of Spencer died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, in CAMC General
Hospital, Charleston.
He was the retired owner and operator of Carper's Wrecker Service with 25
years of service. He also attended the Good Hope Baptist Church, Reedy.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Carper of Spencer; son, Jerry Carper of
Spencer; daughter, Stephanie Tolley of Spencer; stepsons, Michael Price of
Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Edward Price of Spencer; stepdaughters, Becky Carpenter of
Spencer and Patty Schoolcraft of Gandeeville; sisters, Tiny Purcell of
Pennsylvania, Betty Winland of Lancaster, Ohio, and Patsy Satterfield of Cairo; four
grandchildren, one great-grandchild, six stepgrandchildren and four
stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl K. and Trudice Schoolcraft
Carper; and one granddaughter.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the John H.
Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor John Price and Rev. Hillard Bryant
officiating. Burial will be in the Looney Cemetery, Walton.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Kirby King Carper was son of Earl King Carper. Earl was son of Okey Preston
Carper and Lucretia Cetrice King. Okey was the son of Shelton Van Buren Carper
and Susan J Ledsome. Shelton was the son of Nicholas Carper and Sarah Nida,
Nicholas was the son of Jacob Carper and Sarah Raymer. Jacob was the son of
Nicholas Carper and Elizabeth Shrider.
