The Carpentier family which originated in Flanders in the
early 11th century, split into Dutch, French and English branches.
Much documentation exists to prove this was one of the great
merchant families of the Middle Ages in the wool and wine trades, with
important commercial houses in Bordeaux and vicinity, London and Douai by
1300. This is a great family history that deserves research
from several locations. If anyone is interested and has research resource,
