I'm researching what I suspect are German Carpenters, but am having trouble
going back from Michael Carpenter, ca1765-1834, who arrived in Kentucky
prior to 1788, according to family legend was a German speaker, and who's
youngest son Harvey used the name Zimmerman in a land transaction in 1830.
So far I have been unable to tie Michael to any Carpenter or Zimmerman
antecedents, or to any previous location. Any help would be appreciated.
