I received some information regarding changes to the Thomas CARPENTER line
(b.abt 1775-1782 lived in Henry Co GA):
1. I had noted that according to Mrs. Ross's book that Martha CARPENTER
(b.abt 1827) of the 1850 Randolph Co ALA Census with a son Elisha was
daughter of Thomas and married COOK. Now informed that she is of a
different line -- she was the wife of John G. Carpenter and moved
later to another ALA county.
1. I had noted Samuel "Tanner Sam" CARPENTER b. 1815 and lived in Randolph
Co. ALA was "possible son of Thomas". Now informed this Samuel was of the
Zimmermann / Carpenter line out of Lincoln Co. NC that Robert C. Carpenter
documented in his book 'Carpenters A'Plenty'. Samuel is number P97 on page
776 of Robert's book.
FYI: There was a Joseph TANNER (b. abt 1830) living in Randolph Co ALA
who married Mary L. CARPENTER, daughter of Thomas "M" Carpenter. Mary's
sister was Elizabeth CARPENTER who married John HOLLOWAY. In 1880 Joseph
TANNER was living in the John & Elizabeth Holloway household. This was the
reason for speculation that "Tanner Sam" was of the same line. Sorry if I
messed anyone up on this one.
If anyone else has information on this line, would appreciate hearing from
you!
