Hi Shanna I know very little of my Carpenter forebears. My grandfather's
birth was registered in 1856 as John Carpenter (forenames) son of Sarah
Davies. No father given My Y DNA shows I am a Carpenter on the male side. I
assume my great grandfather was a Mr Carpenter
MY DNA puts me in Group 15 in Carpenter cousins who probably came from
Wiltshire

When I mentioned german descent I was speaking of my mothers'

Island, Illinois area and from there I can find several options but nothing
concrete. From your post I see Missouri, Indiana as the closest to
Illinois but I figured that I would inquire.

When you say William is of German descent, is he from the Carpenters in
Germanna Colonies in VA or is he the Zimmerman/Carpenters from Rockingham?
There are plenty of German Carpenters. I have both English and German. I
have information about both Virginia Carpenters although I am only
descended from Rockingham Zimmerman/Carpenters on my father’s side but have
10 other ancestors who were in the Germanna Colonies.
It might be possible that I can give you some help. My English Carpenters
are from my Mother’s side.
