When I mentioned german descent I was speaking of my mothers' side, Glaser. My
Carpenter side can be traced back to late 1800's in the Rock Island, Illinois area and
from there I can find several options but nothing concrete. From your post I see
Missouri, Indiana as the closest to Illinois but I figured that I would inquire.

When you say William is of German descent, is he from the Carpenters in Germanna Colonies
in VA or is he the Zimmerman/Carpenters from Rockingham? There are plenty of German
Carpenters. I have both English and German. I have information about both Virginia
Carpenters although I am only descended from Rockingham Zimmerman/Carpenters on my
father’s side but have 10 other ancestors who were in the Germanna Colonies.
It might be possible that I can give you some help. My English Carpenters are from my
Mother’s side.
