If you are interested, ProQuest is working on scanning
in a whole bunch of other Historical Newspapers. I
can get the information on which ones are in the works
if anyone is interested (I work there).

Got this on another list, but for all with the
Internet, it might be very good, as ProQuest appears
from this post, to have scanned in all the old New
York Times newspapers, and made the resulting
archives
a pay service, but are offering it free for the next
about a month or so. If you have NYC or adjacent NJ
research, look here. Also some nearby counties as
well most likely.
Here is a valuable resource for some things in New
Jersey (and New Y
orkCity). "The New York Times" is online free
until 15 Dec 2003, and then it will be gone. This
isn't just the index
, but
every page, with most very readable! You might be
able to find NJ
information, obituaries, etc. It has the complete
New York Times,
ing the classified) from 1851-2001
It works like this:
First, go to
http://riversideregionallibrary.org/
Second, click on "ProQuest Historical New York
Times"
Third, use the guest password here, which is welcome
Fourth, click on "ProQuest Historical New York
Times" again.
Fifth, you are now on the search screen -- try
Enjoy!
