Dear John,
I just received some details from one of my relatives today that states on
the marriage certificate that Sarah Carpenter's father was a George
Carpenter. Info below:
The information on James and Sarah's certificate is as follows:
1873 Marriage solemnized at St. James Church In the Parish of Rowledge(?) in
the County of Southampton
No When Married Name and Surname Age Condition Rank or Prof’n Res’
nce at marriage
Father’s name and surname
Rank or Prof’n of Father
Dec. 25, 1873
James Hother 30 Widower Labourer Buck’s Horn Oak? James Hother
Labourer
Sarah Carpenter 25 Spinster Buck’s Horn Oak? George Carpenter Labourer
Based on checking the IGI, there appears to be a George Carpenter who was
married to a Lucy. Looks like it is Lucy Wells and that had:
Onslow Christened 9/6/1846
Benjamin Christened 3/3/1851
Harry Christened 12/10/1854
Do you think there is any chance that the Charles as a parent for Sarah on
their records that you looked up could be somehow connected with this George?
It looks as if in 1881 that a George Carpenter was living in Buckshorn Oak
Lane in Binsted and was married to a Lucy.
Any ideas for make the correct connection? Thanks so much.
Suz
