Seeking Information regarding the ancestry of Benjamin CARPENTER of Kent
County, Rhode Island who migrated to northeast Pennsylvania in 1801 with his
wife Freelove BAILEY , son Peleg and brother-in-law George Anson BAILEY.
George was the first settler in what is now the town of Dalton and Benjamin
was one of
the early settlers in the present town of Factoryville, Pennsylvania.
Research to date indicates Benjamin may be a descendant of William
Carpenter
of Providence, Rhode Island. However, little information exists to support
this relationship. The only possible evidence was addressed in a letter
written by Benjamin's 2-great grandson, Daniel G. CARPENTER, to his uncle
Arthur in Kansas city , Kansas where he noted the existence of a "Family
Bible" and a "Framed Record Of Family", which have yet to be found.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
