Hi all,
I have some further land title info besides the info on Stephen Carpenter which I sent to
John Carpenter which is below......
Following Stephen's info, it says Notes: Other Carpenters: On undated Phelps map,
Giles Carpenter in Lot 31, 1820 census, Frederick Carpenter, 1830 census, Ezra, John,
Smith , 1840 cens., Ambrose, Andrew R. & Stephen C.. (The last 3 are mine). Also, an
Alanson was trustee in Sch. Dist. #9 in 1835. The land records show Carpentrs in Lot 32,
Esra, w/wife Polly, in 1836; Martha and Amy, same yr., John and/or John H., same yr.
Giles in Lot 31 in 1831. Roswell & wife Edna in Lot 44 in 1833 and 1847. They were fr.
Mendon. Says....Frederick ment. 1836 ( looks like or else 26), Poor BK. Roswell Carpenter
was the Mr. C. of Tomlinson, Carpenter & Mathews, a business which opened soon after
the canal came, in Fairport. (NOTE---- Due to town chgs. Penfield has also been called
Fairport, Perinton and E. Rochester....it is confusing ....this is my note by the way).
After Fairport, it says see McIntosh p. 227. His land titles in Lot 44: Phebe & David
Hubby to Roswell Carpenter, 912/1!
833, 52 rods in cast central part on west side of Main St. abt. where French's store
is now (1950). On same dt, Henry & Ann Mathews sold the same parcal to Roswell
Carpenter, Liber 27, p. 383 & L.27, p.384. Jan 15, 1835, Roswell Carpenter sold this
pc. to Lorena Hall, L. 30, p.244.
There's more land info on John and Giles if anyone is interested. I imagine these are
all mine.........but I'm not aware of them at present.
There's some land info on Smith Capenter in Fariport, ranging fr. 1831 - 1833.
1950 Fed. census: David Carpenter, farmer, 43, w. Judith 47 and a list of children and
ages & some land info.. Says a dt. Matilda, m. Augustus Hill. 1st Pres. of Fairport,
d. 7/19/1867, b. 11/14/1829, bur. Mt. Pl.
Hope this helps someone and that it may tie us in somehow.
