In the past, I have greatly appreciated the help of John R. Carpenter, John L.
Carpenter, and others in finding the ancestry of ASHMAN CARPENTER. With their help, I
found a Mayflower link and hoped someone might know the location of a supporting original
document for this link: "History of the Carpenter Family as Related by the Late
Joseph James Carpenter, Sr." Joseph James Carpenter was the son of Joseph James
Carpenter and Margaret Hope.
This document states "So endeth the history, as told to Nellie
Carpenter-Patterson by her father, Joseph James Carpenter and copied by Ford Ashman
Carpenter and sent to John A. Carpenter.
Florence Carpenter-Keeler
Recopied by James Webster Carpenter youngest child of John A. Carpenter at Gary, Ind..
June 26, 1212."
This original document proves the links between five different generations of the
family. The document was copied and the Mayflower Society does not consider this to be
an original document because it is a copy. They want the original document!
.
For those interested, Ashman Carpenter of Warren County, NJ was: b. August 11,

also of Hunterdon County, NJ). The marriage was performed by Margaret Dunham's
maternal uncle, Reverend Asa Duham. The Mayflower Society has previously accepted links
to
Nehemiah Dunham and Margaret Hope to Edward Fuller who arriaved on the Mayflower in 1620.
The family moved to Canada in 1816; lived there for six years; moved to Rochester,
Monroe County, New York where Margaret Hope died in April 1824. Joseph James Carpenter

This document by Joseph James Carpenter, Jr above, states that his brother,

document still exists??
Thanks for any help.

Andrew
