about 20
years ago [i.e., about 1876]; he d. March 26, 1897. He bacame
a
resident of Wilmington, Vt. in 1868.
About 12 years before he died he became totally blind. He enjoyed the
confidence and respect
of all who knew him. He was a man of strict integrity. He was
frequently elected to various
places of trust and always discharged his duties faithfully and
conscientiously.

Then follows the family group record (1735) for Calvin. Neither Richard nor
his son Calvin show an entry for a son named John.
Going back to the family entry for his father David, we find Richard's entry

years.

1822; also
held the office of justice of the peace.

Nobody named John was listed among his siblings, either.
