'German' names ending in -i or -y such as Stucki are generally indicative of a
High German or Swiss German origin.

I wrote the book Carpenters A Plenty many years ago. It was quite a task

get other researchers to accept that Joseph and Samuel were not New York Carpenters. The
documentation is in my book. While I still do not know their father, their mother is
documented as is a sister Salome who married John Stucki and moved to Ohio. I have a
signature of Joseph where he signed his name in German. Samuel as you may know moved to
Barren County, KY and was quite prominent in NC and in KY.
I had that book it had a lot of great info in it But I thought the author passed away
