Hi Gene,
We have never interacted even though I've been a list member for years.
Just wanted to let you know how much I've appreciated your posts and
scholarly interjections. I wish you the best.

I'm deeply grateful to John for his thoughtful remarks and the sentiments they
express. To clarify somewhat, I have a chronic form of leukemia that, after almost eight
years, has seriously compromised my immune system. I nevertheless remain healthy enough
to maintain my workout routines during daily visits to a local gym and hope that my
fitness will help me through chemoimmunotherapy when that becomes necessary. My situation
is therefore not dire, but it does cause uncertainty about the future and lends a sense of
urgency to the genealogical projects I hope to complete for the benefit of my daughter and
granddaughters. While I am therefore reluctant to undertake anything that diverts me from
those endeavors, I nevertheless expect to continue contributing to Carpenter genealogy in
small ways.
