James,
I am sorry to hear of your loss. Many of us have been estranged in one way
or the other from family members. Some much more than others, some less.
You always hope that things could be different, but time is lost.
While it is hard, try to make bridges where you can. Work on the basics and
avoid the conflicts. Keep it simple.
The older we get, the more family we lose. I have lost two sisters, both
parents and my first wife (my ex) recently passed. I hate that phone call.
Send me your family line off list. I will add it to the record and link it,
if I can to other Carpenters. Include a story or two, it does not need to
be fancy. Maybe a positive memory will do. This way we keep our family for
the future.
Best Wishes,
John R. Carpenter < jrcrin001(a)cox.net >

Although I have been estranged from my family for years, tonight I feel a
little more alone as I received the news from our local State Trooper that
my father Alonzo John Carpenter has passed.
