My inquiry is regarding the Mary Carpenter (dau of Reuben of Edgefield SC)
who married James GRAY. To best explain my question requires that I post a
couple of records for Mary & James. They are:
In the 1830 census, Mary & James Gray had "1" son born 1825-1830.
-- SC, EDGEFIELD, James Gray 1800-1810, spouse 1800-1810, ""1-male
1825-1830."" Next door to Mary's father Reuben Carpenter.
In the 1841 census, Mary & James Gray lived in Chickasaw MS and they still
only had "1" son born 1825-1830. We know this was Reuben's daughter because
of probate papers which stated the Grays lived in Chickasaw MS.
-- MS, CHICKASAW, James Gray 1796-1820, Spouse bef 1825, ""Son
1823-1841,""
3-Girls 1825-1841.
**I CANNOT FIND MARY & JAMES GRAY AFTER 1841.**
There was a James & Mary Gray in 1850 Choctaw but they had 5 boys born
"before" 1841. A researcher who is now deceased, Jack Gray, seem to think
this Choctaw family was the same James & Mary (daughter of Reuben
Carpenter).
--MS, CHOCTAW, James Gray 1807 GA, Mary 1807 GA, William 1831 SC, Francis
(M) 1833 SC, Samuel 1835 SC, Larance 1837 SC, Tolaver 1839 MS, Jane 1841
MS, George 1845 MS, Bethel (M) 1847 MS.
QUESTION: Does anyone know if Jack Gray had some info to explain where the
extra boys came from? And what happened to the 3 daughters they had in
1841?
Appreciate your time and if you don't know, can you direct me to someone
else who is familiar with Jack's research or has info on what happened to
Mary Carpenter?
Thank You,
