Carpenters also fought on both sides of the American Revolution, quite a few moved into
Canada during the first war and some moved each way during the second

Hello,
A few list members asked where I disappeared to for the last month ...
I took my dear wife to Niagara Falls in NY & Canada, Palmyra NY, Lockport NY for
a ride on the Erie Canal, Niagara in Ontario looking at the old canals and such,
Lindy Lane Cemetery & War of 1812 battlefield (Carpenters fought on both sides),
both ends of the Niagara River with their respect forts then went to Toronto
Canada. Then we took a train ride to Quebec City. Great Fall colors!
Then we got on a Holland America cruise ship named the MS Veendam and rode it to
San Diego via the Panama canal.
We visited Charlottetown on Prince Edward Island, Sydney PEI, Halifax in Nova
Scotia, Bar Harbor in Maine, Boston in Massachusetts, Port Canaveral in Florida,
Fort Lauderdale in Florida, Key West in Florida, Georgetown in the Cayman
Islands, Cartagena in Colombia then went through the Panama Canal at Cristobal
in Panama and exiting on the Pacific side 9 hours later. Then northward we went
to Puerto Caldera in Costa Rica, Corinto in Nicaragua, Puerto Quetzal in
Guatemala, Puerto Chiapas in Mexico, Huatulco in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta in
Mexico then back to San Diego in California.
We did many shore excursions and even finished our Christmas shopping. Now home,
we are a bit tired but with good memories of the trip. And trying to get our
land legs back ...
