Donna, yes, there is Yelverton in the County of Norfolk, but Sir Francis
Drake wasn't born there, he was born at Yelverton in the County of
Devon. We do not refer, as you do to the county name with county
following it, always using the county name at the end, as I have done,
if we use it at all. Normally it would be just Yelverton, Devon.

To Yelverton Carpenter researchers:
You should check
www.familytreedna.com under the Carpenter surname. The
families of Fielding and Yelverton match in their DNA. There are also
quite
a number of family matches in this particular family.
Years ago researchers had suggested that Yelverton came out of North
Carolina and might be German. I had researched him as a result.
He would appear to be of English descent and the site listed above
suggests
that he came out of Virginia, to the Carolinas and then to Tennessee.
