The Carpenter line I'm researching is two branched that I believe might
be one. First I have Daniel Carpenter who is well documented. He came
from CT first to Onondaga about 1810 and then to Oneida where he filed
for a Revolutionary war pension in 1818. In it he names his three sons,
Harvey, Asa and Orson who are still dependent on him, and mentions his
wife. He claims to be living in Vienna, but does not appear on the
census. We believe he was living with a daughter who was married to
Chauncey Tuttle
The second branch is Rev. Eber Carpenter who we believe is another son
of Daniel Carpenter. Eber and his family ultimately moved to Michigan,
first being a minister in Onondaga county at the Hannibol church in
1820. Eber's wife, Alisha Platt died in Highland Michigan and her
obituary was in the Michigan Christian Herald on Feb 2, 1854. It says
she" was the daughter of Deacon Obadiah Platt, of Staten, Oneida
county, N.Y.. She professed religion when about 15 years old, and
united with the church in that place" She was 51 when she died, so that
would place her in Oneida in 1818. However I do not find "Staten" or
an Obadiah Platt. Hence my question "Where is Staten."
