Subject: [CARPENTER] Wallingford Methodist Chapel & Grave Yard
Hi, I earlier posted a query asking for information on land that was
donated by a Richard Carpenter to Wallingford Methodist Church for thier
new church and cemetery, I found the information out from a very nice lady
who I met earlier in my research, It goes like this. I believe from dates
that a Richard Carpenter, Grandson of, John & Rachel (Hinton) Carpenter &
son of one of John & Rachels son's a Richard Carpenter, Donated land for a
new Wallingford Methodist Church to be built,The church was in 1870 called
The Carpenter Chapel, and then in 1879 was dedicated The Wallingford
Methodist Chapel, then in 1923 Richard deeded the land to build a new
Church ,I believe the Cemetery was there since the start back in the
1870's, I am trying to find out The Carpenters that are buried at the
Cemetery , If anyone has info on whio is buried there please let me know,
I was asked by Terry Carpenter to post this info to the list when I found
it,so here it is, This line of Carpenters is con!
nected to Richard Carpenter of 1751 who came to Fleming Co in 1793 and
built his log cabin there and died there at the farm and he may be buried
there at the farm ,There is a headstone that has the intials R.C. ingraved
on it.well thats it unless someone else can shed some more light to the
subject.
