Michael,
Ambroses parents Uriah and Catherine (Fast)
Carpenter were enumerated in Marion Co. WV in
1900. According to the censuses his siblings
were:
1. Theodore Carpenter, born c1845, apparently
died young as he was not in the household in 1870
and another child was named Theodore c1866.
2. Nancy E. Carpenter, born c1846.
3. Ashman Carpenter, born c1850. He may be the
Ashby Carpenter listed in the 1880 census of
Marion Co. WV.
4. Jonathan Carpenter, born c1857.
5. Joseph Carpenter, born c1861.
6. Eliza C. Carpenter, born c1866.
7. Theodore Carpenter, born c1866.
8. Valeria Carpenter, born c1867.
9. Ambrose Carpenter, born c1875, married on 10
Oct 1899 in Marion Co. WV to Bertha Heston. He
is not found in the 1900 census, unless he is the
Ambrose Carpenter born c1873 in WV who was
enumerated in Brooklyn, Kings Co. NY, working as
a lineman on the street railway.
Have you traced Bertha (Heston) Carpenters son
Virgil Carpenter?

Thanks for your reply. This gives me a lot to
go on. Yes I am looking
for that same Ambrose that married Bertha
Heston but then seems to have
disappeared (maybe passed away, that is what I
am trying to figure out).
Bertha is living with her Father in the 1900
census with her son Virgil,
even though Virgil is listed as a son of David
but he is really his
grandson.
