Hi Gene and all,
Thanks for this info as it is indeed interesting...! This is my direct line
back and I also have a direct line back to the founder of the Rehobeth
Carpenters. It would truly be interesting to see the place.......! I did
get to see the Old Chase Homestead abt. which a book has been written. It's
in Chatham , NY., Columbia Co. I've realized that we are so very priviliged
to be able to go back to an ancestor's home....as we can truly see how they
lived and feel their presence, if you will, and understand ourselves more.
It is then that they actually become REAL TO ME at least!!!!
If anyone has any more info on this, I'd really appreciate the info. Gene,
I'm wondering if you could send me a copy of the letter.
Thanks so much.

Hi, Iris,
No, Joseph2 Carpenter of Warwick, R.I., and Musketa Cove, L.I., was the son
of William1 and Elizabeth (Arnold) Carpenter of Providence, R.I.; his first
wife was Hannah3 Carpenter, daughter of William2 and Abigail (Briant)
Carpenter
of Rehoboth, Mass. Joseph4 Carpenter, son of Joseph3 (Hannah3's brother)
and Margaret (Sutton) Carpenter, was of Swansea, Mass.
You'll find important, new information about Joseph3 and Margaret (Sutton)
Carpenter and their children--particularly their son John4--in "Three John
Carpenters: A Chain of Mistaken Identities," _The New England Historical
and
Genealogical Register_ 159(2005):43-53, at 43-47 (also 361-62
[correction]). If
you don't have these, I'll be glad to send them to you as file
attachments.
