Hi Gail. I live in Gretna Virginia, It is a little farming town, back in the
late 1700's it was Train Town,I think the date is right, If you have ever
heard the song "The Wreck Of The Old 97" In the lyrics it mentions "The
Junction" that is what Gretna was called when it first was settled, It is
now a very small town of a bunch of little homes, I live out in the country
on the out skirts of the town, I have 5 acres and live across from a bunch
of Cows, They can stink when the wind is right ,I moved here from Miami
Florida,In June of 2003,we love it here,I sure wish I could travle,I would
love to see Canada,My friend goes camping and fishing there every year,They
stay in a lodge or Fishing Camp,on some lake, canada from pictures I have
seen is a beutiful place. maybe some day I will be well enough to travle
there.Well Keep me posted.Bye 4 now.
Jerry

Hi Jerry,
I just received the papers for the sale of the homestead in Arkansas this
morning and I now believe that my Henry B. Carpenter may have died in
Wisconsin as that is where they
were when they sold the property. I am now going to have to search Rock
county Wisconsin between November 1874 and the end of 1878 maybe even up
to 1880. I am not sure if they
divorced or if Henry died but I am going on the assumption that he died.
Ann S. Carpenter's obituary says that he had died but her death
certificate says that she was divorced.
She took a homestead in Minnesota and one of the affidavits sworn for the
homestead final papers, by her son-in-law, said that she was divorced. I
don't know what to think with
this family some times.
Do you mind if I ask where you live Jerry? I am in Sidney by the Sea,
B.C. Canada.
Kind regards
Gail
