Marion,
I have Joseph Carpenter-13138 and Susanna Eakers-13139 who had 5 children first in NJ then
NC. The numbers after the surname are ID numbers from the CE data base.
Joseph descends from William Carpenter-584 who came from England and settled in Rehoboth,
MA. This line is part of Group 3.
The line from Joseph C-13138 is Hezekiah C-12823, John C-9814, Hope C-12716, John C-587
then William C-584.
On the Carpenter Cousins Y-DNA Project lineage page for Group 3 – see link:
http://carpentercousins.com/generallineage.htm#reho
You will see William C-584 listed as C#584, his son John C-587 (C#587) and Hope C-12716
(C#12716).
John C-9814, Hezekiah C-12823 and Joseph C-13138 are not listed.
A living direct male descendant of John C-9814 would really be welcomed for Y-DNA testing.
And if the Y-DNA testing was consistent with that part of Group 3, then this would
provide a genetic relationship or confirmation that you are in the right Group.
I hope this helps.

I descend from Sarah Glendon Carpenter, Warner Lafayette Carpenter,
Lenonidas Lafayette Carpenter, Joseph Carpenter, and Peter Carpenter. I
believe that Peter Carpenter was the son of Joseph Carpenter and Susannah
Eaker. I am not sure if there has been any dna work on that line. I have
three male cousins that I could urge to participate in the project if
there hasn't been any to do that yet.
