A member of the Carpenter Cousins Y-DNA Project, Charles Donald Carpenter (RIN 147598
& FTDNA # 148504 – Group 8) recently died. He was 84 years old. Our condolences to his
family.
Charles was interested in learning more about his lineage and with the help of others
pushed his line back into England.
His immigrant ancestor Jonathan Carpenter-135818 b. abt 1710/1720 in England and d. abt
1763 in the area of Still Run, Tidewater region, Spotsylvania, VA. While parts of the
lineage is still challenged, Charles and others of Group 8 have a great Carpenter
heritage.
Les Carpenter provided the death notification to me. His message follows reads: I wanted
to let you know that my cousin Charles Donald Carpenter (group 8 - FTDNA # 148504) died on
17 Nov 2014. He was 84 years old. I believe I've given you all of his other

Charles Carpenter

U.S. Veteran Charles Carpenter, age 84 of Seaman, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at
Mercy Hospital Anderson.
He was born in Bracken County, Kentucky on May 9, 1930 the son of the late William and
Verlie (Flaugher) Carpenter.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Richard Carpenter and two
brothers, William Carpenter and Jack Carpenter.
Charles was a US Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, a member of
the Seaman American Legion, and a member of the Berlin Airlift Association.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Sentney) Carpenter of Seaman; two daughters, Donna
Kurtzhals (Quentin) of Carlisle, Ohio and Cathy and Chris Baxla of Seaman; one sister,
Joanna Kissling of Tullahoma, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Amanda and Luke Labrensz,
Emily Kurtzhals, Hannah Kurtzhals, Kelsey and Brett Cooper, and Curt Baxla; one great
grandchild, Mavrik Cooper; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the
Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Lewis-Sullivan Chapel in Seaman with Rev. Marilyn Roades
officiating. Burial will follow in Confidence Cemetery with a military graveside service
given by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Seaman Life Squad.
