Per the link below from Stars & Stripes, Kyle Carpenter, Corporal, United States
Marine Corps, retired (medically) will receive the Medal of Honor later this year at the
White House.

This will make him the second Carpenter in the history of the United States of America to
have received this award. The first Carpenter was Louis Henry Carpenter for service during

The Medal of Honor is similar to the British Victoria Cross in value and sacrifice. It is
the highest military award that can be given.
