I believe my son also descends from this line - hopefully sometime in
the future we can do this. My brother recently had his tested and now
we find we are something totally different than we thought.
The family has always been somewhat dark with high cheekbones - been
called mulatto, free black, redbone and in fact were ousted from Texas
in the mid 1800's for being 'free black'. The 'Ashworth Law' of
Texas
allowed them to return but before that happened they were in court and
even tho they had 'tainted' blood, should be allowed to return.
I'm fine with whatever we are no one could give us any answers. WELL-
after the test - we are a tiny bit African, a little more Native and a
who bunch of Albanian, Romanian and other nationalities in the
Mediterranean area. One ancestor was tried in court to prove he was
African and the testimony described him as having dark skin and straight
hair - - oh well, I am who I am who I am!
Still confused and lovin it....

Hi Dennis,
I can trace some of my ancestors along your line from Peter Zimmerman
back
to John Jackson Carpenter, at that point is where I don't have a John B.
Carpenter. I only show two children for John Jackson Carpenter & Lucinda
McFarland, they are John & Nancy Jane. Do you show these also. I show
John
Jackson as being born 1821 in KY. Would very much be interested in more
information in regards to the spouses of your Carpenter/Zimmerman line
also,
which can go a long way in confirming that we are talking about the same
John Jackson Carpenter and your John Carpenter, b. 1790 and Christian
Carpenter, b. 1760.
If there is a male descendant of your Acel Ace Carpenter, he should have
his
DNA tested with Family Tree DNA, this will also verify that your
Carpenter/Zimmerman line descends from Peter Zimmerman. Robert and I
feel
that his ancestor Peter Zimmerman and my ancestor Christian Zimmerman
were
descended from Hans Zimmerman. Both of us have had our DNA tested and
have
matching DNA for the first 25 markers with one mutation. We also feel
that
the line dontinues on back through Peter Zimmerman, b. 1668, to Hans
Zimmerman, b. 1635, to Christian Zimmerman, b. 1609, and then to Niclaus
Zimmerman, b. 1575.
If you have not received an email from Robert C. Carpenter at
rcarpenter2(a)charter.net , you should send him an email. He is the author
of
"CARPENTERS A PLENTY" an excellant history of the Carpenters and
Zimmermans
from North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Robert is also a proven descendant
of
the same Peter Zimmerman who was born in 1736 in PA.
Would like to hear from you and exchange more detailed information.
Thanks
Bob Carpenter

Subject: [CARPENTER] Brick wall finally busted
I have been researching my family tree for many years, but until
recently
had run into a brick wall beyond my Grandfather Acel Ace Carpenter.
His
father, A.C., had died young and had only the one child. I had only
the
name, A.C. Carpenter, to go on, and was getting nowhere. But in just
the
past few weeks, we've had a couple of major breakthroughs, and I
am
now certain that A.C.'s father was the Charles Henry Carpenter below.
With
that, I was able to connect with other user's trees on Ancestry. My
(tentative) lineage is below, beginning with my grandfather, Acel.
Please
check it out and let me know if you find a connection. I would like
to
connect with my Carpenter cousins and share info.

Thank you.
