The Mensa Colliquium is called Tracking Granny's Granny: The Genealogy
Quest and will be held on Sept 12 thru 14th in SLC, at the Hilton SLC
Center, downtown apparently in waling distance of Mormon archives. For
Mensa members the fee is $270 and for non-members (who are welcomed) $320.
The rooms reserved at the Hilton are all gone but I found a hotel room about
4 blocks away which should be easy walking distance for me even if I'm
carrying a computer with me. There is a meal package as well.
For more information contact Jill Beckham at JillB(a)americanmensa.org or go
to

http://www.colloquium.us.mensa.org/> It
would be nice to meet some Carpenter there. Except for a 6th cousin I met a
Texas Historical Workshop some years ago and my first cousins and their
descendants, the only others I've met have been at the Carpenter Cousins
meetings in Louisville which I wish we were still having. They had many of
the fun elements of a family reunion as well as being a good learning place.
I plan to stay in SLC thru Wednesday following the colloquium and sight see
as well as work on genealogy. By the way, I just bought a new laptop and my
old laptop is going to be reconditioned and I want to put a good genealogy
program into it. Does anyone have a recommendation for one?

it was
well done.
