Hello List Members,
I need your help.
Fred Carpenter, age 88, is believed to be the last male living descendant on
his line. He is the great grandson of Amos Bugbee Carpenter who wrote the
Carpenter Memorial - that 900 page tome published in 1898.
Fred is a lot slower these days and uses a walker to get around in his
Senior Center. His first wife died in 1964 and his second wife died 1 Nov 2008.
Fred has three daughters who are struggling with their families and who have
little interest in genealogy.
I have talked to Fred about Y-DNA and all the amazing things we are learning
about the diverse Carpenter Family and he is willing to participate by
taking a DNA test.
Fred is interested in donating his original copy of the Carpenter Memorial
book to the SAR library in Louisville, KY for a DNA test. The SAR library
has the largest collection of Carpenter Family material on the east coast. I
think this is a solid gold opportunity for all.
By small donations, we could put in $123.00 (with S&H) in the Carpenter
Cousins General Fund to provide him a 37 marker Y-DNA test kit that is on Holiday
sale. The 37 marker is now $6.00 less than the 25 marker test until the end
of the year.
I will make sure that the release is signed, the samples taken and the kit
returned to FTDNA for testing.
I will make the first donation of $25.00. And I have asked John R.
Carpenter to let us know when the $123 goal is met.
Donations can be made either on line (by credit card or PayPal) or by mail.
It is important to specify the "Carpenter Cousins" project in the appropriate
place on the form, so that the donation is properly credited. In the on-line
form, this place is a box labeled "Item" near the top. Write in that the
donation is for "Carpenter Cousins - for Fred Carpenter.

You can even mail a check. Make it out to "FTDNA" with a reference that the
money is for the "Carpenter Cousins General Fund." Send to:

Can we get that original Carpenter Memorial book for the SAR library? Yes,
we can by donating a few dollars toward the 25 marker Y-DNA test.
Can you help out with a few dollars? $5.00, $10.00, $15.00 or even $25.00?
