I've "rescued" a group of photographs belonging to the YATES, CARPENTER,
and
COBURN Families of Wisconsin. Based on limited research I was able to
gather some census information as well and have included that information
along with detail regarding the photographs included in this group:
1. William YATES, no studio or location, 1900's, man in his 60's or
70's
2. Rebecca YATES & Sister, Drysdale Studio with no location, 1900's,
women in their 60's or 70's
3. Lula YATES CARPENTER, Lindquist Studio in West Superior, WI, 1900's,
note on the photograph suggests that Lula is 17 years old at the time,
though I'd guess she is about 12 years old, note "from Mother to Doris, Don,
and Verna"
4. Eva COBURN CARPENTER, Berryman Studio in W. Superior, WI, 1890's or
1900's, woman in her 40's, note "Chet's Mother"
1880 census of Saginaw, MI:
William YATES, age 31, an Engineer, born WV
Rebecca W. YATES, wife, age 25, Keeping House
Laura YATES, dau, age 2
Allice M. YATES, dau, age 4 months
1910 census of Superior, WI:
William YATES, age 60, married 33 years, born VA, parents born England/VA,
an Engineer
Rebecca YATES, wife, age 55, married 33 years, 3 children/3 living, born MI,
parents born Scotland/Ireland, Keeps a Lodging House
Olive M. YATES, dau, age 27, born MI, a Public School Teacher
Lula C. YATES, dau, age 19, born MN
I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that these wonderful old
photographs can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this
family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
