Pam,
One of the concerns about DNA testing is privacy.
That said, there are some various pictures of Carpenters in the CE CD 2001
under the Misc Pics folder. And there will be more in the future.
John L. Carpenter (List Admin) and I (John R.) were often confused with each
other because of our beards and glasses. Now that he shaved off his beard,
he looks really looks better than me.
Some time ago on this list we remarked and discussed the two main body sizes
of male New England type Carpenters. One about 5'9" to 5'10" stocky and
muscular and the other body type thinner and about 6'3" or so. Hair types
went from black/brown to reddish (mainly in the taller males) with some male
pattern receeding hairlines. The 29" inseam was common in the smaller body
build. Eyes are basicly brown yet show a strong showing of lighter colored
eyes. At one point we even discussed the common European trait of the
second toe (next to the big toe) being about as long as the big toe!
My father is 6'3" and I am 5'10" and I resemble my uncle
(5'10.5") more than
I do my father. Yet my brother is a 6'3" and resembles my father. If their
were not over 4,000 miles difference in location, I would have wondered
about my sire!
I remember that in some famlies the male height difference in families often
jumped a generation. Are there exceptions in body types? Of course! I know a
few who have the thinner body type but not the 6' plus height.
Female Carpenters seem to run the entire specrum of body types, colors and
sizes.
All in all, there is nothing really strange about Carpenters except, well,
er, ah, ... a strong desire to learn more about our ancestry! :-)

Wouldn't it be interesting if one could post photos of those who
are
willing
(or dead) maybe on the Carprenter cousins DNA project or somewhere else to
see those interesting and sometimes surprising family resemblances across
cousindom? --Pam B.
