Michael A. Lewis do you have a list of any Carpenter Family
that went
"Down Under" you would like to share ? I remember a ? Cyrus
Carpenter who went
to Australia from Vermont USA
Hi John
Anything's is possible but dont I know of any one
else............... There are a few errors in the Carpenter
Memorial book . On page 405
it says Ira b 26 Jun 1798 has a son in Australia and another
Cornelius CARPENTER in California. Have a note with Cornelius
info made a few years ago .......... His descendants aren't
interested in their Australian cousins It was a nephew, Edwin
Reuben who went to Australia ( who I mentioned a couple of days
ago)
Edwin was son of Cyrus , an elder brother of Ira , both sons of
Cyrus & Betsey CARPENTER nee BARNEY
Andrew Jackson BARNEY was a 1st cousin, twice removed of Betsey
BARNEY. He came here c 1853 and settled and has many descendants
. Have never been able to find out whether Andrew and Edwin knew
of each other . They were of the same age and 3rd cousins.
On page 592 the Carpenter book lists the family of Cyrus and
Hannah CARPENTER nee JENNEY
as Darwin b 1823, Mila b 1825, Edwin R b 1827 and Sally Melisa
1829 b Wilmington Essex Co NY
Never been able to find any Darwin CARPENTER b 1823 who approx
fits . I know Edwin Reuben had a brotherbut not named Darwin.
Mila is correct . Their youngest daughters name wasn't Sally
Melisa , it was Mary Jane , who later married La Grange ANDREWS.
So still have a few pieces of the jig saw puzzle to find !!
Happy Hunting
