Maureen,
Recap ...
Victor Carpentier aka Victor "Richard" Carpunkier
Born 16 Apr 1837 Trois Rivieres, Canada East, now, Quebec, Canada
Died 28 Jan 1927 , Juneau, Wisconsin
He served as a Private in Company D of the 4th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment.
This from 30 Apr 1861 to 17 Sep 1862.
Car-pun-k-ier is close to the Carpentier and Charpentier in the French
pronouncement. Phonetic spellings were very common back then.
His father was also likely Victor. The following line may tie into your
line.
I hope this helps.

likely by the ST. Lawrence Seaway. he worked for the T. Weston Lumber
Company in Necedah, WI. He enlisted in the army at Ft. Kilbourn, Kilbourn
City, WI on 30 Apr 1861. He was discharged on 17 SEP 1862. His service

Carpunky, Richard Carponkie, Victor Carpunkie, Victor Carponkie. I have
his history from 1858 to present. Any information on his parents or
siblings would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Maureen (Carpenter)
