I just returned from vac. Yes to FF, and no Cates matches. However, I
would be interested in your Grandmother Carpenter's first name, birth,
marriage and death dates. I have no Adam Carpenter, b. c1771.
Thanks, Bob Carpenter

Has any subscriber to the Carpenter e-mail list had a Family

Test done with
familytreedna.com in Houston, Texas? Do you have a match to
Vivian or Dan Cates? Both my spouse and I had these tests done in the
spring after realizing that some of the results go back much earlier than
we originally thought they do.
. After 49 years of marriage with two children and doing serious genealogy
research most of that time, I find that we are ranked as 3rd-5th cousins.
I have no idea what the family connection is except that it is toward the
end of the second part of the 13th chromosome. The son of one of my male
first cousins on my mother's side is also a match at this location. He is
a double cousin from both my mother's and father's side. He may or may not
have a Carpenter connection. I know nothing about his mother's south
Georgia family.
I am still trying to learn how to use the FF matches site and the
mtdna site. Are there certain chromosome markers for Carpenters?
My paternal grandmother was a Carpenter from Edgefield
District/County, South Carolina, back to Adam Carpenter b. c. 1771
Cumberland/Moore County, North Carolina, moved to Edgefield District, c.
1804 d. c.1852 with a will. Lived in the Trenton area of Edgefield
District.
My husband's Cates line were early settlers on the "other side of the
Ridge" in what became Saluda County, South Carolina.
Most likely if we have connection, I am thinking, it is with some
unknown wives in North Carolina or early Virginia on some unknown family.
I have a new e-mail address. We have changed from dialup, no DSL
available, to satellite with
excede.net.
