Hi Gerald,
Yes, we have a group that have Carpenters associated with Richard Carpenter
of Fleming county, KY.
On Table 1, See Group 3 - Rehoboth Carpenters (genetically related to Group
3, but not yet connected genealogically). Specifically look for FTDNA #
35833, 44170 & 19915 at:
http://members.cox.net/johnrcarpenter/generallineage.htm#oth3
FTDNA # 21907 believes, but has not proven his connection to Richard
Carpenter of Fleming County, KY.
FTDNA 17978 & 19929 "might" also be a descendants of Richard Carpenter.
Check out the lineage of 19915, he would be the closest to your line.
The only Jeptha Carpenter-12556 ( b. 29 Dec 1693 of, Long Island) I have in
my main data file comes from the "Genealogical and Historical Record of the
Carpenter Family" by James Usher. That information was supplied to James
Usher by Mr. W. C. Barker. See A) below. FYI - That line has the
disproved Cotleb Zimmerman descendants.
I hope this helps.

Information supplied by Mr. W. C. Barker, born 1819. Per the book cited
below: "It is believed that (The Long Island Branch of the Carpenter Family)
is a branch of the MA family, as Joseph, the eldest son of William, of
Providence, settled on Long Island in 1664." See: "Genealogical and
Historical Record of the Carpenter Family" by James Usher. 929.273 C225u
Page 30 of the Carpenter Family of Long Island and NY.
This fraudulent Carpenter line of Long Island goes back into Wales then
England then to a Cotleb or Caleb Zimmerman of Prussia. Some real
information is given but the birth dates are off usually by 2 days compared
researched birth dates. Also fictitious places are given in Wales and
sources that have never been found.
The deviance begins (per James Usher) at: ,Timothy CARPENTER-12552 19 Dec
1665 ,Wales,England

Mercy COLES-12553 2 Feb 1668 of Glen Cove,Long Island,NY
Apparently James Usher was a lawyer for the Carpenter Family Association in
the mid 1800s. The CFA believed that a great fortune was to be had in
England by the rightful Carpenter heirs in America.
Those Carpenter families who had been or were "Loyalists" in the
Revolutionary War or "Confederates" in the Civil War were branded Zimmermans
and not true Carpenters. Thus they would be excluded from the money. Amos
Bugbee Carpenter in his five decade and 900 page work 1898 could find NO
EVIDENCE of such a fortune to be had in England. He also indicated the lack
of proof of the Zimmerman ancestry of the Long Island Carpenters and that
his research (along with others - SEE DHC 1901 book) showed a different but
definitely Carpenter ancestry for the Loyalists and some of the southern
Confederate Carpenters.

Hi,I am not Carpenter by surname so I am unable to participate in
your
Y-DNA project.I wanted to know if there has been any connection of Richard
Carpenter of Fleming Co,Ky and his Descendents.I believe I have seen
Jeptha Carpenter in this line and that there was some testing done of this
line connecting the Ky Carpenter line to William of Rehoboth, even though
we have not found Richard Carpenters parents nor Birth date. Any help on
this is greatly appreciated.
