I've "rescued" an old photograph of Pete PLIEMLING which was taken at the
Dempsie Studio in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The photograph appears to have
been taken in the 1880's or 1890's with Pete likely in his 20's or 30's
at
the time it was taken. In addition to his name, someone has written "Uncle
Pete" on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I was able
to locate Pete and his family in census records as follows:
1880 census of LaCrosse, WI:
Nicholas PLIEMLENG, age 34, a Carpenter, born France, parents born
France/Luxemborg
Susan PLIEMLENG, wife, age 33, Keeping House, born WA Terr, parents born
Canada
Peter N. PLIEMLENG, son, age 13, at School, born WI
Lorette PLIEMLENG, dau, age 7, at School, born WI
John P. PLIEMLENG, son, age 5, born WI
Catharine GUTGESELL, Mother, age 45, a Gardner, born Luxemburg, parents born
Luxemburg
1900 census of Minneapolis, MN:
Peter PLIEMLENG, age 32, born Mar 1869, married 7 years, born WI, parents
born France, a Railroad Switch
Florence PLIEMLENG, wife, age 29, born Aug 1870, married 7 years, no
children, born IA, parents born KY
Maud CARPENTER, Sister-in-law, age 23, born Mar 1877, married 5 years, 1
child/1 living, born IA, parents born KY, a Dressmaker
Lourence CARPENTER, niece, age 3, born May 1897, born MN, parents born ME/IA
I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be
returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know
someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
