My Loyalist ancestor, Archelaus Carpenter (b. 23 April 1734), and his wife
Rebecca (Golding) Carpenter (b. 5 May 1737) came to Saint John, New
Brunswick on the ship Cyrus in September 1783. I am seeking information
about the family of another Loyalist John Crabbe and his wife, Elizabeth
(Bassett) Crabbe (or Crabb?) who arrived in Saint John on the same ship.
One of their children, Elizabeth Crabbe (b. 1771), married a Hugh Brown on
May 1, 1790. A portrait of her done in 1845 by local rural artist, Anthony
Flower, has recently been discovered by a local art investigator. Anthony
Flower is related by marriage to the Carpenter family in New Brunswick. I
am trying to see if there is a similar connection to the Crabbe family. Any
help would be appreciated. Thanks.
