Hi Barbara,
I take it from this e-mail exchange that you are a Samuel descendant. As I am trying to
rewrite the 1912 Samuel Carpenter book before 2012, I would appreciate it if you would
send me your line of descent from him. It would save me time to have a clue where to go
with researching at least one other line! My line retains the Carpenter name through Dr.
James Carpenter who moved to Pottsville, Penn. His daughter Sarah Stratton Carpenter, who
married Daniel Washburn, and their daughter, my great-grandmother Mary Howell Washburn are
in the Carpenter book. I have an original of the book with my great-grandmother's
handwritten notes as well as those of her daughter Mary Washburn Fish (Aunt Polly). I
have seen copies being sold that are a photocopy of my copy. Quite some time ago, my
mother lent our original to her local library to copy, and it obviously somehow ended up
in the hands of the book sellers.

Hello again John, I did get a chance to call my youngest brother. I did talk with his wife
about carpenter descendants and DNA. I printed and have sent your e-mail, by snail mail to
them about the DNA, and hope they will follow through with it. One of our male cousins
lives down the road from my brother Mike. Cousin Zale carpenter has two sons and his
brother Doug living in Montana, has two sons. I know of no other male carpenters. Maybe
this will work and maybe not. My brother and cousins do not have computers, so if you want
to send me an address where they can send you info, I will gladly mail it to them.
hopefully will will help. Have a great weekend.

Hello Barbara,
I got your message on the Carpenter Roots web.
I have worked on the following articles on your Samuel Carpenter line.
Please see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Carpenter
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Edward_Carpenter
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_H._Carpenter
If anyone is a direct male descendant of any of these gentlemen, please
advise!
I hope these articles will assist in your endeavor.
Best Wishes!
