Elsie May,
So good to hear from you. I hope you are well and I see still researching
with that analytical eye!
I suspect that the person who posted the Elizabeth Geibel information is
someone seeking a surname. Here is what I know:
Johannes Zimmermann named his wife Elizabeth in his will. Nowhere have I
located a surname. Elizabeth lived for a number of years after her
husband's death. She wrote an unprobated will in 1811, which I located in
family papers, so she did not die in 1794. She is also listed as
Johannes's wife in his 1806 will. I suspect that she lived through the
1830 census. I located widow Carpenter in that census with her age
category, 70-80, with an unmarried daughter and grand daughter in the
Lincoln County census. I suspect that is widow Elizabeth. She does not
have a legible tombstone in the Johannes Zimmermann cemetery, but there is
a rough rock beside HZ APR D3,1809. This is most likely Johannes dying
April 3, 1809 as his will was probated April Court Sessions 1809.
So we still do not know the surname of Elizabeth but I strongly suspect she
was a neighbor as Johannes would have been of marrying age here in North
Carolina.
I hope this has helped.

I have two different Carpenter lines. I am writing about my
Zimmerman
(Carpenter line). I noticed on one of the genealogy sites it has the wife
of Johannes Zimmerman . 1745-1809, as Elizabeth Geibel b. 1755 - 1792.
They are listed as m. 1772. I had her name only as Elizabeth, and I did
not see a source for her last name. Does anyone have that information?
